Nya, hello. I know it will be difficult to find this show but I can think of few people as qualified as you to solve this mystery. I will be very grateful if you help me ^^
So, I saw this short television series on a children's television channel called Canal Panda sometime between 1997 and 2000. The look of the animation makes me think that its production is from that time, the late 90's. Canal Panda was portuguese and I think it only had broadcasts there and in Spain. There are not many videos from this era of the Panda channel on YouTube, but here you have, for the context:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=apUf0PpFv9I
www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsJUWIg-MT4
www.youtube.com/watch?v=y80htf3v52o&t (Despite being a 2001 video, most of the bumpers are the same as the previous year)
The show to which I am referring consisted of a series of episodes of several seconds each. I don't think each episode lasted more than a minute or two and from my recollection there weren't many episodes, maybe five, although I only have a vivid memory of one of them. Each episode was a separate story telling a child's dream (I don't know if this was a made-up story or if the creators of the show asked a couple of children what they had dreamed of and made animations about it).
All the episodes had the same development. The voice of a child, whom the viewer never saw, narrated the events of the dream and these were developing on the screen. The episode ended when the boy indicated that this was the moment he had awakened.
The animation was 2D, I remember it very simple but cute and colorful.
In the only episode whose story I remember, a girl dreamed that she was a rabbit (white, with long ears and pink inside, dot-shaped eyes and no clothes). The rabbit girl found a huge carrot buried in the ground and climbed on it (I suppose to get it out of there and eat it). Then the carrot would start to fly like a rocket, getting higher and higher (I think in the background the color would change from soft blue to dark blue and stars would appear) The rabbit would start eating pieces of the carrot until there was nothing left of it. Then the rabbit beginning to fall to the ground, which was already far away. After this the girl said she had woken and therefore the episode ended.
The tone of the story was very soft and cute. I don't remember it being disturbing in the least, although the theme "children's dreams" perhaps gives it a bit of a mysterious feel.
I can't be sure but I think this show was European. I think this because those who chose the channel's content seemed to have a predilection for British, German, French series, etc. They also aired some anime but it is unlikely that this series is Japanese. I remember the broadcast of some series of short duration, such as "The family ness", "Penny Crayon", "Jimbo and the jet-set" (these three are from the same studio), "The new adventures of Saturnine duck" (Dynamo duck), an animated adaptation of "Boner's ark" (about which I cannot find information on the internet and may be another lost series) and animated adaptations of illustrated children's books from an English publisher, I can't remember which one (I have an episode recorded on vhs with the ending missing. It is about a Native American boy who loses his mother, travels with his horse and receives advice from a wise older woman. The story is related to the moon and I think the word "moon" appeared in the title . Some time ago I googled it and I think that images of the book didn't appear, although in the episode before the story they mentioned the name of the author, the publisher and even a photo of the book appeared. If you are curious when I see that tape again I will give you more information about this. It is likely that this record is lost material that only I have)
Maybe the series about the children's dream I'm talking about is one of those cases of a very short animated series. I have also considered the possibility that it was a bumper but I don't think so because this didn't have the typical bumper format of the panda channel, nor did the logo appear. The third option is for this series to be exclusive to the panda channel. If it were the last case, the search would be narrowed down but at the same time it could be difficult to find it.
I suppose that if nobody remembers it, the obvious step is to try to contact the Panda Channel team and ask someone who worked there at that time, although perhaps we need someone who can speak Portuguese. there are a lot of series that aired there and I can't find anything on the internet, so it's likely that at some point we'll have to do that.
I've been thinking about this for years and I'ts very likely that you are the only ones who can help me with this. Please, help me!
