Hi, all. This may be another case of those "found media, lost info" cases. Anyway, Kangarooney, in my experience, was first published in December 1962 in the second issue of Gold Key's King Leonardo & His Short Subjects comics (its labelled with 10001-212, which might be important). It ran for three issues, the one mentioned above; King Leonardo #3 in March 1963 (10001-303) and King Leonardo #4 in September 1963 (10001-309). I'm unsure if theres anymore Kangarooney comics, as I'm no comic collector and only buy ones relating to my interests, but I'd love to find out if there are.
There's absolutely no info in the books about where Kangarooney may have come from or who created him, with the only clues being the title and a copyright labelled 1962, Western Publishing Company, inc. I've done some research into this, but it seems to be an alternate name for Gold Key, or a parent organization.
I've also searched through several lists of Gold Key comics, with and without an attached year, but Kangarooney was nowhere to be mentioned. Additionally, I'm sure Kangarooney probably isn't a Total TeleVision Production property (King Leonardo's parent company), as I've never seen anything mentioning him in all the TTV info books I own.
Here's a link to an google drive folder containing all the Kangarooney comic pages I own, incase somebody recognizes them. (here). Most plots circle around Sean McBrawn trying to steal the leprechaun Kangarooney's pots of gold. He's never successful, and Kangarooney always has a good time.
That's all the info I have on this funky comic. Here's hoping you cool lost media guys will be able to find more info than I can. Cheers!
