This probably doesn't count as media so I'm putting it here. Years ago I had a specific Matchbox set. I was able to track it down online only once but since then, it's like it vanished off the face of the earth. I still have pieces of it and I've searched every combination of words on google to try and find it. It's a 2003 Matchbox Playset a very unique one at that. It had large rectangle grey and red firetrucks with all removable parts. The tops and bottoms and tires themselves could all be moved and changed around and there were a second set of bigger tires you could snap into the smaller ones. It had a huge white, yellow and grey crane, a swinging door thing that when driven through the door which was a blue plastic frame with a sticker on both sides would switch over from a house or something on fire to a not on fire house lol. It came with a small red plastic firetruck with a grey nozzle ontop that could actually fit ontop of the bigger firetrucks through triangle slots they all had to connect. It came with two that I know of regular matchbox cars one being the 1981 blue 4x4 rescue van, and a white hatchback rescue car both with snow decorations that came from a 5 pack that year called "Snow Cappers" despite knowing so many details I've tried everything to find this set online its like it vanished off the face of the earth... If anyone knows what this set is called please tell me so I can try to value it please. Pictures of the pieces I have on Imgur: imgur.com/gallery/PjrNLoy
Wow this is hard to track down. The truck looks big in the picture, is it as big as a tonka truck?
It took me months to find a plastic horse I used to play with as a kid, I remembered it clear as day but couldn't figure out where it came from. Finally after combing some old MLP forums, I found out there was a whole culture on collecting bootleg ponies and finally found a version of the toy I grew up with. Maybe looking at forums specific to matchbox will help? But I'll keep this on my radar, now I wanna find it because it's weird we just can't.

Exactly! It is weird. Not even anything remotely similar... And I wouldn't say as big as a Tonka truck if your thinking like their big construction stuff. Maybe like a die cast Tonka vehicle size.

So I did check out a lot of the Mega Rig toys like you suggested in the pics, but I wasn't seeing anything similar. You're sure this toy is an authentic matchbox toy? They had a fire truck one but it looked way more detailed. I'm also not convinced it's supposed to be a fire truck, because every matchbox fire truck that came up looked so much more different.
Edit: Re-read your post and forgot about the house on fire aspect, so that answers my question on it being a fire truck.
The image file isn't loading for me for some reason. I used to do collecting on Care Bears, and did a lot of research on it. I also collect Pokemon things, but that has stopped due to the world situation for now. When the images load for me, I'll take a look at them. Pretty good at spotting if something is bootleg or not

I never thought if they were bootleg.. but they do have a 2003 copyright on the bottom that says matchbox. Idk how authentic a bootleg could look though
