New Products Evangelist (新製品エヴァンジェリスト) was purportedly a fan-made OVA that was a parody of Neon Genesis Evangelion, featuring references to computer tech around the approach of the millennium.

What little I can find suggests it was shown at a few events, before Apple forced it into silence. I've seen the filename "[kazuji]NPE.DVDRip.FULL[176D6A2][Divx-MP3].avi" mentioned as well. These are little more than rumours through, I haven't been able to find any concrete sources for them, or indeed any solid evidence for it's existence beyond the presence of these images. I suspect it may well be a hoax or a story people have built up around the images, but I can find nothing to confirm one way or the other. I figured it would be best to mention it here, so it at least might have some light shed on it.

The images have occasionally surfaced on imageboards over the years. Outside of a single 8 year old Tumblr post, I've not seen them anywhere else. There's a few more relevant things I've stumbled across looking through my archives, however.

The first of these may well be a cover for a CD case, given it's shape. The second, a clearer version of the logo shown on the left hand image of the 3x3 collage, is perhaps a wallpaper bundled on whatever CD the OVA itself came on?

This screenshot of a thread is the earliest reference to it I have, along with the prior mentioned filename. The date is interesting, about a week after Comiket C68. The catalog for this event might be able to positively identify it's existence, but I have no idea how one would go about getting such a thing. The date does at least, along with the presence of ME-tan, constrain it's release to somewhere around 2003-2005.
