I agree. Shits getting ridiculous at this point. Just put a disclaimer ahead of future releases saying its a product of its time, doesnt represent the views of the company anymore but to whitewash it is to pretend those now-disgusting views never existed.

I AGREE COMPLETELY.
Firstly, as a Conservative and a staunch believer in maintaining and archiving the past, the idea of "erasing" and "canceling" entire eras of history because they "offend" someone is nonsensical. This is literally the same kind of DoublePlusGood memory hole thinking and editing of history that George Orwell tried to warn us about in 1984, and frankly it's so on point if I didn't know these people (using the term loosely) were serious I'd assume it was some kind of viral marketing campaign for a 1984 movie reboot that CNN and MSNBC were in on. Sadly, no.
The moment that we start "censoring" anything we start "censoring" everything. This is not an issue of racial equality, it's purely an issue of political power and control, with one group using entire races as ammunition in their idiotic culture war. It's hard to "debate" the Left when they hold up Emmet Till like Cal Hockley trying to get onboard a life raft as their political views sink.
More importantly, as a BLACK MAN, it outright pisses me off that a huge contingent of Liberals who, quite frankly, are mostly White Millennials (hi there, I'm a Gen Xer) want to tell me what should and shouldn't offend me. Then if I'm not "properly" offended, I'm somehow not Black enough. And yes, that is something Black Conservatives hear a great deal. My entire race isn't a human shield for some twenty-something kid's war against Trump...and the fact these people (again, I'm being overly generous using the term) on the Progressive Left use the entire Black race--and the entire LGBT community, and the entire Hispanic race and a dozen other examples--as their bulletproof politicking vests so easily and with not a hint of shame only reminds me why I voted for Trump the first time.
Yes, I completely agree with you. For me, it's always possible to still like a work even if it contains outdated social values or depictions of people with a different ethnic background, race, religion, or mental disability because they accurately reflected of how such prejudices existed against minorities or what kind of social values was considered acceptable during the time the work was made. It's fine to still like them as long as you acknowledge that those ethnic stereotypes and outdated ideal values present in the work do not reflect how a company views them today and that you should not apply them to real-life people or modern-day society.
In addition, I also believe that it's also possible to still like a work created by a problematic author or ones with controversial takes on real-life issues, as long as you separate the artist from their work and you can still appreciate them for a variety of reasons (such as nostalgia, the impact the work made on popular culture, the joy that the work brings to you and others, etc.) while acknowledging their opinions or actions aren't right.
Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.
Is there really a strong push by people to censor old works to appeal to current sensibilities? Twitter can be cherrypicked to find some support for any absurd idea. I've seen people point out and condemn offensive aspects of old media, but I haven't seen people actually call for them to be cut out. All I've seen is a few companies trying to take advantage of the recent political turmoil.
Thankfully, censoring edits can only hit new physical media and officially hosted digital media. The movies being edited are typically decades old by now, so they can all easily be found physically and on torrenting sites. Song of the South is the only example I know of where a film becomes remotely hard to find since they predated digital distribution and stopped being produced physically so early.
Hoarding obscure self-published music on the off chance someone misses it.
Yes, sadly, there is a genuine push to censor the past for some nonsensical political BS. I understand that, seeing most of it is coming from the cesspool of Down Syndrome-afflicted cucks that is Twitter, it's easy to imagine it's just some kind of attempt by modern corporations to take advantage of politicking for their own purposes, but I assure you it's real. Statues of people are being pulled down, American AND Confederate flags are being burned, people are openly advocating for the Constitution to be re-written and dictionaries to be edited to adhere to the political beliefs of the far Left. It's like our world overlapped with some parallel hellhole from Sliders.
And while it may only be "new" media now, that's terrifying in it's own way for two main reasons: one is that while we can keep circulating the tapes eventually they break down, and since uploading the original, unedited stuff to YT or whatever will become impossible if they, the Left, are given power in this nightmare scenario then eventually those tapes and videos will vanish. The other aspect is that there may be an entire generation who don't know about the ACTUAL past because it "offends" someone's sensibilities...not the actual minorities who they claim to defend, because I assure you Blacks aren't offended by Gone With The Wind, but the WHITE MILLENNIALS who still are upset their wunderfrau Hillary lost in 2016 want to erase all history prior to 2001 and start over out of spite. And the second you let them have an inch they will take a mile and keep grasping for more.
And that is what this is really about, changing the past so their failures are harder to document.
