Back in 2006, MSN had this thing called MSN groups where you could basically make a mini website of whatever topic and people could join and interact with the group. Then in 2009, MSN got rid of the group feature and everything got mass deleted.
I really just wanna see the old group I was in, but I guess all of that would be purged. I mean that listing exists for some reason, so maybe theres a chance some stuff would have been archived?
It's possible that most of the MSN Groups pages haven't been archived or snapshotted by the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, since many of Microsoft's internet services (including those from MSN) required ActiveX to work properly. ActiveX was only available on Internet Explorer or any web browser using it's engine.
Yes I did try wayback machine but got nothing if I remembering right. I'm pretty certain a lot of these groups are lost to time. I can't even find old confirmation emails about joining or creating groups in my old MSN messages, and I'm certain I never deleted them because I can find other old emails. They were weirdly scrubbed from existence, unless people archived their groups themselves. Which is still possible.
Unless you just mean archive.org itself. I guess that's possible?
I forgot I made this thread but something rather odd happened a few months ago. When Outlook bought MSN, a vast majority of my emails were just straight up deleted. Just gone. Well one day I decide to check my old MSN email and all of my old emails had randomly been restored. This shocked me because they were gone for years at this point.
This is relevant because a lot of my MSN group emails were back too. I wonder if it's possible for me to use the wayback on the URL in the emails?

What, do you actually want somebody to say "no"? Utilize your executive functions.
This is an unnecessarily rude response. Forums are meant for discussion, you don't have to respond if you don't find what I am saying interesting. I've been on these threads long enough to understand what thinking out loud is.
I never said I wasn't interested. I just expect one to test their risk-free hypothesis before posting.
Idk how many threads you've been on but stating your hypothesis is pretty common here. I haven't really had the time to dig through my middle school email and test those links yet, but on the other hand I was genuinely wondering if it would work anyway. Not to mention this is a thread by me, so it's not like I'm wasting OPs time cuz I'm OP.
Edit: I'd argue you haven't really contributed much to this thread other than your server migration statement, which I'm not even sure is the case. As these emails disappeared around 2010 and then re-appeared in 2023. I literally have emails from Borders before they went out of business, that's how long ago it was.
So although yes, MSN Chat can be accessed through wayback which will take you to the MSN group home page, the pages themselves link to OneDrive. I'm guessing they're still possibly stored SOMEWHERE, since I was able to access random MSN Groups through a OneDrive before on that link I shared, I just don't really know where I can go from here.
I'm trying to see if the group I was in got archived. This is pretty neat though!
So this was the link where I was able to access very old MSN groups through random One Drive files. That being said, this link is now dead...which might be for the best in this case, a lot of mommy blogs were saved??? I also remember finding a vampire RPG group too.
I did look through my own old MSN email one drives and didn't find much, this is relevant because I used to create groups at random. But they'd get deleted due to inactivity or not enough members, which is why I don't think there is anything in my one drive. So really, I think people who had successful groups would have to check their own one drives and see if they're still archived.
