So, I was going through my files and the closest thing I have to potentially lost media are some of the first recordings a local band did about ten years ago.
Edit: Well, shit. I accidentally posted this without clarifying things more.
The band in question isn't active anymore since they announced that they were splitting up earlier this year, but their bandcamp and Youtube channel is still up. I went to high school with them, and I'm sure if you'd ever ask them about it they'd be cool about it. However, their early history is different from where they wound up even just a year later. Back then, they had an entirely different front man and they recorded cover songs while they were working on original material. I remember one of their first sets (if not the very first) was covers;
- Green Day | Brain Stew
- Foo Fighters | Everlong
- Green Day | Whatshername
- The Flaming Lips | Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots PT. 1
Things started to take a bit of a shift after November 2010 when the frontman either left the group due to creative differences or he was fired by the rest of the band. This lead to the band's bassist to take over the role of the main vocalist, while one of their guitarists supplied the backing vocals. After the fall out, just about every trace of everything involving the original frontman was scrubbed off Youtube and their social media from what I can find - but I'll keep poking around to see what I can find. Because of that, I don't know the split was on good terms or not, and I'd rather not bug them about it since it was so long ago. I managed to save the four tracks in question shortly after they went up, and I'm not sure if I'm going to release them or not out of respect for the guys.
Edit 2: Well, shit. I posted all of this to the wrong thread.
