For the past few months or so, I have been trying to find this local news advertisement yet have turned up with nothing. Please help me find it.
It's a local news advertisement about a station's weather department and how they 'protect you from storms'. It goes on the usual spiel about their weathermen and their reporting, the usual things you would expect.
Then, in the middle of the video, a clip of a man screaming (or panicking?) in a hallway/cruise ship is shown. The context behind the video, was, I believe, something along the lines of "use our weather team to stay up to date so you don't freak out like the man in the video."
Then the advertisement continues and ends like normal.
This advertisement isn't old, though. I saw it around summer 2019 when I was pulling an all nighter. I'm not sure of the exact day, but I say I probably saw it around the time frame of June 2019, or possibly earlier or later. But I'm almost positive it was before July.
I am absolutely sure that I saw it on my local NBC station. I don't want to reveal the exact station incase this forum has a rule against location sharing or something similar, but I will provide what station if I'm allowed to.
In my personal opinion, the video I saw in the middle of the ad seems a little uncharacteristic to what that station does. I've actually watched that station's local news broadcasts and browsed their site quite a bit since then, but found nothing and have never seen that ad since I initially saw it. I've looked on YouTube and everything. It just seems like nobody cares to archive the ads on this station.
What I remember from the clip of the man screaming was that it was kind of low quality, like it was a video recorded shakily on a phone. It was gray (possibly recorded during a rainstorm?) and it might have been recorded in a flooding hallway. I think it was most likely recorded on a boat or a cruise ship.
The video of the man screaming wasn't really put in the middle of the video with no explanation, it was a part of the ad. The video was vertical (so most likely recorded on a phone) and was shown with borders beside it. I guess that it was probably was submitted by somebody to social media or found on social media and licensed/used.
I'm not even sure if this advertisement is real because it was around 4 in the morning when I watched it and I was basically running on almost no sleep at that point. It does honestly feel like something I might have dreamed up or imagined, but who knows by this point. Local news stations do some crazy stuff sometimes.
I emailed the advertising team of the station, however they said they don't recall an ad like this and that they can't search without a specific date or time. Thing is I don't exactly remember the date and time, so just searching for it seems fruitless to me. But I'm almost positive I actually saw it, it didn't seem like any form of fever dream to me. So I'm just putting it out here incase anyone has a copy or remembers something related to this that they've seen.
Have a good day, everyone.
