Hello all,
I would love to help someone find lost media. But, I dont know where to start. For example, some guy is trying to find a lost tv show. How do I help him find it?

I usually search for lost movies or web series when i see a post on here that interests me - example the sonic for hire lost episodes which I managed to find.
The best way to find a movie is to get as much info as you can. What I look for is -
- When was the movie seen
- Theater or TV
- was it a made for TV Movie or a re-run of an exisitng movie
- Timeframe of when the movie could have released
Once I have this info i get a basic description of the film and try my hardest to search through the media on IMDB and wittle down the results until I find the correct film.
If I have enough descriptor words, I plug them into a search engine and look. For instance, someone couldn't remember the name of the show, but they recalled some details where a Janitor gets his toe cut off by a lawnmower in a kid's show overseas but from America. I typed in "janitor loses toe lawnmower Nickelodeon" (I had a hunch it was Nickelodeon), and then I eventually found a reddit page describing the exact same thing, which helped the person finally identify the show. So key terms are helpful in my opinion.
Also doesn't hurt to use your own intuition. One person was looking for an animation that played before a U2 concert and I said "that looks like the Cramp Twins!" And although someone else found it, turns out the creator of the Cramp Twins made it!
I also will use dates (change Google so it only searches in specific time frames), and wayback machine comes in handy.
Ok great! How do I have Google search for time frames?
Google lets you have a setting to only search between certain times.
2008 - 2011 for example.
Yeah it's in the settings. Type in what you want to search on the main page and hit enter, then go to tools up on the top and click on the drop down menu that says "any time," then you should see "custom range" listed. That will allow you to dictate what time period you want your results from.
