Pokémon Live was a live musical that traveled the country from September 2000 to January 2001. At its opening, the musical was panned by critics and disliked by fans.
The musical was 90 minutes in length and told the story of the main characters of the anime, Ash Ketchum, Brock, and Misty as they travel to a contest to win the highly sought after Diamond Badge. The "contest", however, turns out to be a plan by the evil Team Rocket and their leader Giovanni in an attempt to take over the world.
The play had a relatively short run, lasting just 4 months, from September 2000 to January 2001. Plans to open a version of the show in the United Kingdom were scrapped.
The play was uploaded to YouTube by production stage manager Chris Mitchell in January of 2012, however the footage was of very poor quality, using a late 90's to very early 2000's camera to film the play from the very back of the auditorium, making it hard to understand and follow what was happening on stage.
Plans to release a professionally shot version of the musical on home video were announced, but this never became true, for reasons unknown.
that's pretty strange. i wonder why they never chose to release a professionally shot one? overall this is a rather interesting situation. lost media regarding live shows has always intrigued me.
Chadtornic made a video on this so the interest is there, Chris Mitchell has been very helpful; I just think the issue is that they are just having trouble contacting the people who would know about this just because they're higher-ups and can't be bothered for some 20-year old obscure thing like this. A proper release just doesn't make any sense considering it's not 2000 anymore, but maybe someday it'll make its way to YouTube.
♪ Good day, good day, I'm glad you came my way... ♪
Yeah there are two other ones, one I made and another called "my biggest find ever" or something.
Let me copy/paste the contact info I found from the other thread to this one.
Edit:
I have an assumption that Pokemon themselves did not record the performance, therefore there must be someone out there with a master copy, or knows where to direct us.
I've made a list of some people who worked on the show and might be worth contacting.
Director/Choreographer: Luis Perez Production Designer: Hotopp Associates Lighting Designer: David Agress Writer: Michael Slade (Theaterworks USA touring family shows)
The following people are extremely difficult to find contact info for since they're all higher-ups and whatnot:
Executive Producers: Ed Micone, Michael Fiur and Howard Kolins, (radio city) Alfred Kahn (4Kids) Gail Tilden (Nintendo) Norman Grossfeld (President of 4Kids, produced/wrote Pokemon Live)
Contacting Chris Mitchell again might be of some help (like setting us up with connections) if none of these people above can be reached. I also don't know the extent of the emails Chadtronic has received, so if someone could direct Chad to this search here that'd be welcomed too.

I guess I'll copy and paste some info here from another thread:
There were also adaptations of Pokemon Live made in Portugal and a Dutch adaptation in Belgium. It is speculated that there may have been planned video releases of both of these shows (according to a conversation I had in a shoutbox once)
There was never a formal recording of the Pokemon show. There may have been archival videos or other recordings of the show done by the producers in an ad-hoc manner. The producers of the show, and license holders for all materials are: 4KIDS ENTERTAINMENT. They are based in New York City if you want to pursue that route.
Good luck,

Oh wow, this is incredible. So he's saying there was never a professional recording? Who said there was then? Of course, he might be remembering wrong, but in the case that he isn't perhaps the alleged promotion of the release on the Pokemon site and stuff was premature.
And I'm glad you were able to follow up with the 4Kids email, I'm very excited to hear what they have to say in return, but I also commend you for even finding these contacts, as I couldn't find anything.
Glad we have even a little new information, even if it does contradict what we knew before.

Wow! I'm glad people are starting to draw attention to this lol. I actually kinda wanna see the full musical. I would like to help in any way I can, but since I'm a minor I can't do a lot of stuff. But still, if you guys need help with something I could definitely try doing it!
