Actually it wasn't Mr. Rogers in the commercial and it was from the mid 1990s. It was a parody called Mr. Rodney's Neighbourhood. Mr. Rogers (of course) didn't like that they did this because he didn't advertise to children (and so did a bunch of parents). This video talks more about this youtu.be/z966lQ4KZwc (at 8:55).
I saw brandonthefan01's upload of the ad on YouTube and I could see why Fred Rogers wanted it to be pulled from TV, as Burger King's 1984 advertisement was just too mean-spirited to its competitor McDonald's and it just didn't capture the peace loving essence of his TV show.
Still, it's a good find for those curious in old advertisements that got pulled from TV and I do feel it does need to be preserved for historical references.
Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.
