Alright, I'm new here and I don't know how to properly start a message board, not to mention I don't know if this has been discussed before, but because I absolutely cannot find anything about this on the internet, I guess I'll do it here.
I am an aspiring artist and have been trying to develop my art skills by looking at old anime that I used to watch when I was a kid.
One such anime - or video - is one from the earlier days of YouTube known as "Anime Breakdance Crew" by lilkid545.
Looks cool, right? Bet you're wondering what this anime is. I'd like to know too.
Obviously contacting lilkid545 is a moot point. If you look at his channel, you'd see he has not uploaded ANYTHING for 7 years.
So I decided to look in the comments. While most people were as much in the dark as I was, they did mention an artist named "Kim Soo Yong". I decided to look up "Hip Hop Manga Kim Soo Yong", and it turns out it's the Korean Equivalent called a manhua. It's called "The Hip Hop" and it is in fact an adaptation of a Manhua by Kim Soo Yong
Now, I did say I could not find anything about this on the internet, and yet I just gave some vague sources. That's not the point. My point is when I looked up any scans from the Manhua, and info about the animated adaptation, I found NOTHING. There is a volume or two on ebay, but it's only the first one and it's from france or germany, in france/german. I cannot find any ENGLISH translations of it online, and I while I don't really care about being able to read the series (again, I'm an aspiring artist, so I'm more focused on the art rather than the story), I cannot find any scans of the Manhua, PERIOD.
So here's my question:
1. While I am more than willing to shill 20 bucks on an imported copy in a foreign language, is there any place I am missing that may have translated scans online of the series that I could read, if I so choose?
2. Even if I did decide to buy a copy of a French or German translation, if you go onto eBay at THIS particular time, you will see that there is only one copy. I am inclined to believe there are more than just one volume of this, and if so, is there any other places I could find one and purchase it in the US (regarding of the origin of the Manhua, like the previously mentioned French and German copies)? Because when I tried to look it up on Amazon, which if you go on Google it will link to some ebooks, the page immediately 404s.
And finally, and most importantly -
3. Where did this animated adaptation COME FROM? There is NO WAY I'm going to believe for one sec some random aspiring break dancer YouTuber has connections to Korean animators and studios to be able to upload this video. He doesn't even name the darn thing, just gives it a generic title; so I have reason to believe he somehow managed to stumble upon it and upload it onto his YouTube Channel without any idea what it is originally. If so, where did it originally come from, is there more of it or just a one-shot, if there's any company info like an imdb page (I can't speak or type in Korean, obviously), and if there's a higher quality version of it?
Again, sorry if I sound like an idiot or if I'm rambling, but I am really enamored by this series, and I have been trying for the past week to find any reliable information and came up flat REPEATEDLY, so I am at my wit's end and asking the more dedicated of internet sleuths if I made an oversight, or if I'm not looking in the right places.
Thanks in advance. Hopefully this had piqued your interest and you will have better luck finding information than I did.
