I’m sure we’d have found more of both this and MSB if more effort and collaboration were involved from other members not directly involved yet. MSB is my goal right now but I have been hitting many dead ends lately.
Yes we have a recording of MSB but the quality is lackluster and nobody really seems to be continuing on the search besides me and a couple others. I’d say it’s only 5% found. As for LBK it definitely deserves a search level as big as MSB. I’m not saying one is more important than the other but MSB is my personal holy grail.
I personally think one My Special Book is a special thing in itself. But, is there any way you recommend I get involved in either the MSB or LBK searches?
You’re definitely already involved lol. Fantastic lead through Twitter which may lead to it being found. To bad nobody associated with MSB has any tapes. I guess it’s all hands on deck trying to find these interstitials. Canadian lost media seems to be a lot harder to find and undocumented than American ones for some reason.

I contacted Peter Oldring on Instagram a while back (his handle is @whatpetersaw). He seemed very happy that someone knew his work on the show. He said he had Beta tapes of the show somewhere in his attic. Maybe someone else could contact him about that. I'm going on vacation on Saturday (for a whole week), and am possibly bringing back a Beta VCR with me.
You should ask him which Beta those tapes are. They could be Betacam or DigiBetas, which were commonly used in the broadcast industry in the '90s. Those aren't compatible with a consumer Betamax player.
It's cause Canada isn't widely known for its youth networks and production companies shows that aren't imported are made in-house usually with a lesser budget than any American show. Also, Corus Entertainment seems to own a lot of these programs, and as we seen with other Treehouse Tv Shows, They aren't exactly very good about sharing their products lol take Noddy Shop for example. I'm not sure exactly if Corus has anything to do with that one, but the entire show would be found if the copyright holders weren't just hogging it lol..

A lot of times, interstitials aren't seen as important as the full shows, and therefore, get treated badly. You know it's bad when the producers don't even have their own copies to hold on to. Heck, even when Katrina from "Wanna Play?" commented on my old YT video for it from 2013, she said "How did you access these episodes? I would love to watch more of them." Meaning she didn't have any tapes at all. I found her on Instagram and messaged her telling how much I liked the show, but she blocked me.
Anyways, back to LBK. There is no photos available of this one, unlike MSB.
Why’d she block you lol? But yeah that’s true about the interstitials. Hopefully we can find them soon.
I searched her name into Google and found out she's now a doctor (that specializes in athletic injuries). Maybe since she's a doctor, she doesn't want anyone to contact her that doesn't know her for medical reasons./

So, during the search "My Special Book", I discovered this show called "Little Big Kid". It was an interstitial on YTV in 1999 that was about a three-year-old (played by Peter Oldring, who was an adult at the time) discovering things in the world through mime. In a later season, Jessica Holmes took over the role. It seems like just a really weird show, and I kind of am curious.
Looking at the CRTC programming logs, I can say here's the airing cycle
Hello everyone. Hope this email finds everyone well and that you all are staying safe in these crazy and challenging times!
I am resurrecting this from the dead. I am a YTV insider directly involved with both My Special Book, Little Big Kid and many other shows. I have been lurking anonymously looking at these posts for the past little while and it is really tugging at my heart strings. I wish to remain anonymous...for now
This is an extreme longshot, but DEFINITELY worth a try. Back in the day, one of the main cameramen for pretty much all of YTV’s shows was a gentleman by the name of Shawn Kelly. I know him well. Shawn has shot wayyyyyy up the ladder and is now the Executive Vice President, Technology for Corus. For email, you can try Shawn.Kelly@corusent.com. If that doesn’t work, maybe call Corus directly and ask for him. Again, no guarantees, but definitely worth a shot with regards to Shawn being of assistance.

Do you know the spesific time period when he was a cameraman? "Back in the day" is ambiguous.
"Weekend? It's Monday already."
