Hello.
I've been trying to find information on an animated cartoon series I used to watch every week around 2005, called "Mica". It's about a colony of anthropomorphic stones living in a canyon, the protagonist is this pebble called Mica. It wasn't popular but I loved it. A few years ago it popped into my mind again, and I wanted to see if I could find photos or clips, but nothing. All I could work with was "Mica cartoon" and it was too vague, and I started wondering if it actually existed.
I looked at lists of cartoons from the early 2000s and there was no trace of it.
Lately, though, I started having some luck. I found a page on the italian voice acting website, they had a page about the series. The image at the top is the only real image from the cartoon that I could find (I used the Wayback machine and the page hasn't changed in over 10 years). www.antoniogenna.net/doppiaggio/anim/mica.htm
Knowing the name of companies, distributors and producers, I had more to search with. I finally found it on the Wikipedia pages on the Canadian channel Tooncans that distributed the cartoon
I've found a 2003 article about outsourcing animation to India mentioning UTV Toons and Mica (the image attached isn't related. The entire cartoon was digital and not in that style) m.rediff.com/money/2003/dec/13sld5.htm
A 2008 blog post that copy&pasted the other article jaiskrishna.blogspot.com/2008/07/mica-mica-is-utv-toons-first-full-3-d.html
And another article that mentions it using the same words www.afaqs.com/news/story/12163_Outsourcing-leads-to-boom-in-Indias-animation-sector
Ricochets Productions website, even in the Wayback Machine, is a maze and I couldn't find any information.
I tried to take a look at the animation studio UTV Toons' website on the Wayback machine, but the images (only those related to Mica, i guess they're gifs?) don't load.
and finally, probably this year (I couldn't find it on the wayback machine), an IMDb page was added. I found it looking up director Pilar Balsalobre www.imdb.com/title/tt7369796/?ref_=nm_knf_t2
I tried looking at the old websites of the listed channels on the Wayback machine, especially the channel that broadcast this cartoon in Italy, to no avail.
I'm satisfied to see that there's proof that the cartoon actually existed, but there are no clear photos, no clips. I doubt it was released on dvd, but the only image we have is from the Italian voice acting website. Maybe it just wasn't very popular, but I've found images and clips from even more oscure cartoons I used to watch. I'm not sure if it's truly a "lost media", but I didn't know where else to ask. Does anyone remember this cartoon? Where could I continue my research?
