lol This is a great topic. I really like the random/unsourced/unverified things that make us wonder whether or not they're real.
I did a reverse image search on the pics and unsurprisingly nothing came up, but there were some things about the article that struck me as interesting.
We're all wondering why the platform was going to be Xbox, why there's no developer attached, and why the game is based off of the series that it is (in addition to that weird dust bunny blood). But it got me thinking that maybe this is more of an "unofficial test/pitch" along the lines of Mario Kart XXL or Resident Evil 2 GBA- where it's not like a 100% real game, but is more than just a mod/hoax thing. In fact the Mario Kart XXL title screen is pretty much as basic looking as this one.
I'd almost go as far to say contact the site or the author of the article and ask for more information. Cause another thing too is when people fake stuff it's usually to get attention or something.....so why the heck would anyone try and get publicity or a laugh from a fake Comfy Couch game.

Are there any Xbox connoisseurs who can confirm whether or not those are even real Xbox graphics?
Also don't know if it means anything but the numbering on the picture filenames is weird: in order, bcc-01.jpg, bcc-012.jpg, and bcc-03.jpg. So either they have more that they didn't post or whoever gave them the pictures had more that they didn't give them.
The graphics look like the Xbox era for sure....don't know why a Big Comfy Couch game would be made for the Xbox. Keeping my mind abd ears open.
PM me if you have anything regarding:
RVA area station ids from the 90s(WRLH and WAWB/WUPV in particular ) Syndication listings, promos, and local bumpers or other off air recordings for the following shows: Dragon Ball Dragon Ball Z Astro Boy (1980s) Ronin Warriors MegaMan Star Trek(TOS-VOY) Pokèmon Sailor Moon
Kobo pointed out the bcc jpg names, and how it's ordered "01, 12, 03". I'll try looking for 2 and 4-11, but my thoughts are that it's a typo.
Personally, I can't say if it's real or not. I prefer waiting until everything sorts itself out like how Kekcroc was found to be fake in the end with the "lostmedia.jpg" image as the first ever image of the game online. Nonetheless, it would be interesting seeing where these came from to begin with.

Kekcroc just made more sense to have been faked. From "kek" being in the name due to it being posted on 4chan's /v/, to the meme-y nature of the people who faked information around it and such. Even Polybius, despite it having literally 0 actual media around it despite the title name was a brilliant fake due to it's creepy nature and how fast stuff like that gets around the internet, though it took a while since the first post on some arcade website. A random early-in-dev xbox original game about a kids show that actually existed? It's not even a terrible "lost episode" creepypasta level of material, all that someone would have faked are some janky ingame screenshots and not even a creepy story to surround it. Also, it was posted on Unseen64 by the staff, presumably, which doesn't seem like something they would do, but it could be someone faked it as a joke. I'm placing my bets on "real" but likely the dev company just made it more as an experiment and weren't really given full license to make the game fully because the show was well out of its prime. Have at me if I'm wrong, though.
You know what, I do think this is one we should go after, at least finding out information about it like with the Nick Australia glitch. It has enough mystery to warrant a a search and we are in a kind of lull regarding active searches. I still don't think this is real but The Big Comfy Couch is such a bizarre series to pick for a hoax. It's not well known and it's not something that is a obvious joke like Kekcroc.
One thing to note is that Unseen64 does get information occasionally that isn't true and the games covered can be hoaxes, such as with Croc 3. Being on there doesn't mean it's 100% a game and no one with a lot of freetime made up 3 images.
Petition to rename the Lost Media Wiki into the random shows I remember from Treehouse TV forum

Sure, Croc 3 was a hoax, but it took quite a while to prove it as such. Normally, Unseen64 is better than most when it comes to this sort of stuff. There have been games made for Peppa Pig, and the Tweenies, just to give two examples. Something like this, even outside its prime, isn't too far off, even as a prototype.
Also, for the people who say it can't exist because Xbox doesn't do kids games... There are games for SpongeBob and Hello Kitty on the Xbox. I'm not putting this outside the realm of possibility, especially when this game was supposedly in development in the early Xbox era (when Microsoft was, in fact, trying to appeal to kids with games like Blinx the Time Sweeper and Dr. Muto).

Croc is another game it makes sense for an attention-seeking troll or somesuch to make fake "evidence" for or just simply start a rumor. Croc was at least semi-popular, Big Comfy Couch ranks much lower in popularity. And even then, most of these popular fakes have never gone as far as making actual screenshots of the game, usually they just slap a label on a cartridge, make a fake game case, or the lowest of the low, just start a rumor. Making or modifying 3d models for an obscure children's series spinoff game just seems like a lot more effort than most have done. The most evidence croc 3 has on the unseen 64 page is a poorly rendered castle that looks like they could've ripped from anywhere, slapped with a paint.net oil filter.
This one is very intriguing, especially because Unseen64 tends to have a good track record. I think it's totally plausible, there have been some terrible tie-in games made for long dead consoles before. Just look at George of the Jungle for PS2 if you want to know the depths that will go to. I also can't think of a lot of reasons to fake something like this and the graphics look low resolution enough to be feasible on an Xbox while having just enough effort put into them to make them seem possibly legitimate. The one thing that gets me is the blood on the floor in the second screenshot. That's clearly what it is and any real developers surely would've thought it not appropriate? That said - maybe the developer already had made a fighter before, recycled their code and just forgot to remove that element.
The naming scheme definitely suggests there were 12 images at one point, and that makes me quite suspicious. I know that game developers typically like to put these types of screenshots on their portfolio sites as a part of their resume. Maybe these images were on one of these sites at one point and now that website is dead, and if we found an archive of it, it could reveal more information behind who made the game and for which company. Equally, the images could've been for some other purpose, like a bad fan game, and re-purposed as part of the article with only the most potentially real screenshots posted. I find it difficult to believe this is a typo. How does one accidentally type 12 instead of 3 when doing something as simple as naming a set of three images in a row?
With no other information on the game immediately Google-able, all we can do is look at the images and speculate. One thing I notice is that the clock at the top-right appears to be a sort of radar mini-map. In the first image you can see it sort of matches the surrounding area. In the second image you can clearly see the dustbunnies are red dots on the map, but what's strange is that this time around the grey lines don't really match the surrounding environment - it's an apparently square room, yet the map has these round gray lines that don't seem to match up with what you'd expect the mini-map to look like (a square room and nothing more.) I'm guessing the reason the same clock is on the ground in the screenshot has nothing to do with this and is more to serve as a joke i.e. she isn't on the ground because she lost a life but because she's doing the clock stretch ha ha funny.
One thing I notice that adds credibility to this being a real prototype is that there is another bar underneath the "health" bar which is a thin yellow line which seems to indicate how many points you need to get another life. In the first screenshot the bar is very small and there are 2003 points, and in the next screenshot it's about 1/4 the couch size and there are 2231 points. That suggests you get another life after every 1000 points. I imagine the blue squares underneath are the life count.
For that matter, some of these HUD elements look really out of place, the life count especially. I wonder if it was recycled from something. If it was, maybe that could be a clue as to the developer as well.

Okay, now I agree it could be blood, as there appears to be some flying out of her torso and is visible right between the two dustbunnies feet at the top. About the image numbers, I find it likely that the dev just didn't publish all of them to unseen64 and believed what he sent was enough, but it could be a sign that if this was faked, the faker was a bit lazy.
And now that you mention it, the minimap is very off in the square room image where she's getting beat up by the dustbunnies, as it appears it's trying to be a map for a much further developed stage that actually has something more laid out than just a basic box map. Another odd bit is that there's a bright blue dot on the house's ceiling, directly above the minimap that appears to server 0 purpose. But another thing to consider is it appears that the interior of image 2's house is supposed to be the house from image 1, judging by the windows. If this is the case, it could be that those grey lines and circle are supposed to be details of the top of the house.
Thinking about it, something that lends to the realness of it is ironically the same thing that led to some people calling it fake: the title screen. After all, it's just a picture from google images with some text on it, right? ... Or is it?
I can't find the original background photo anywhere. Not by searching and not through reverse-image searching - not even after I poorly photoshopped it to get rid of the text/logo and fix the contrast. (attempt here. not gonna fool any humans but i thought it could fool a machine). I'm not saying it's definitely not out there, maybe it's on the back of some obscure licensed product, or it's a frame from 4 minutes and 27 seconds into episode 209, but if it is a fake they really went all-out in using such an obscure image. Let me know if anyone else can find it.
