Hey, guys I am new here. I joined because I have been looking for footage of these two episodes of the 2004 Disney cartoon "Dave the Barbarian" but have never found them. I remember seeing the names on TV.com as well as reading that they "rarely aired on TV" but I don't recall having ever seen them when I was a kid.
What do you guys think? Is it a hoax or are they real? Anyone remember hearing about them?
Well, I just went through all of the Google results for "dave the barbarian" The Figar//Silly Wiggy and it amounted to only 43 results. None of the places that include the episode look to be the most reliable.
www.dvdizzy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15184&start=460 has a post about halfway down with user Mickeyfan1990 including the ep as special feature in his ultimate Dave the Barbarian dvd, this post is fron 2000 www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsnnhPl2KUg mentions in the video description that they haven't included any footage from Figar/Silly Wiggy in the video, which was uploaded in 2009
Some sites also give an original air date but there is no consensus
23 January 2004 (http://5movies.to/6342-watch-tvshow-dave-the-barbarian-online-free.html) 30 January 2004 (https://www.ranker.com/list/full-list-of-dave-the-barbarian-episodes/reference, primewire.unblocked.sh/tv-437622-Dave-the-Barbarian/season-1-episode-12) 12 March 2004 (http://toonrific.pazsaz.com/davebar.html) - Not that no episode is listed on Wikipedia as having been first broadcast on this date, there was a two week gap in the schedule 19 March 2004 (http://www.tvmuse.com/tv-shows/Dave-the-Barbarian_36412/season_1/episode_12/, epguides.com/DavetheBarbarian/) 26 March 2004 (http://primeseries.to/serie/dave_the_barbarian/season-1/episode-12)
Not sure what if any of this will help but having never heard of this ep for one of my top 5 fav Disney TV Series I would be psyched to see it found if real
I'm not sure if TV.com is the most reliable site for "lost" episodes as the site is known to post hoax episodes to TV shows that don't actually exist, like the infamous hoax KaBlam! 1998 episode "Episode 29" (where it was alleged that the show's hosts Henry and June finally end their comic book series and reveal their feelings for each other as they say their good byes to the audience) and three non-existent unaired "Shnookums and Meat" segments from The Shnookums and Meat's Funny Cartoon Show that are alleged to have air on Toon Disney at a time when the channel didn't even exist.
As for the Dave the Barbarian episodes "The Figar" and "Silly Wiggy", I could find absolutely no reference to their existence on Wikipedia (Link), nor could I find any reference to it on IMDb's episode guide on the series (Link) and on Big Cartoon Database's page on the series (Link).
This makes me believe that the episodes either don't exist or was someone's imagination, though I would think it would be a good idea to contact someone who was involved in the making of the show to verify if these two episodes do exist or don't actually exist.
Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.
Yeah, I'm not entirely convinced it's real, but what makes it weirder is that I almost remember having heard about the lost episodes of the show years ago when I was a kid. I know it's not the first time a Disney channel series has had lost media (about half of "Teamo Supremo" has still never been found). But it would be interesting to know if this was actually ever intended to be a real thing. There are even direct quotes from the episode on TV.com after all!

I don’t remember much about this show, just that it was terrible imo (no offense to anyone who likes it!), but I checked this out again after seeing it several years back, and thought I’d look into it myself, since a case of “rarely shown and virtually unheard of” episodes is definitely something that interests me.
Basically, the web doesn’t back up the existence of this ep. It’s not listed on Wikipedia, and virtually the only result that comes up is this. However, if TV.com had quotes from it and listed guest stars, it sounds somewhat legit. Like I said, I didn’t care for this show at all back in the day and I highly doubt I’d feel any better about it now, but just finding out whether or not this “rarely aired episode” is real or not would be something.

i don't think it's real, TV.com has listed fake episodes before. City Guys for examples had the phony season 1 episode "The Movie" which I proved was fake by using the Wayback Machine for TVTome(which is what TV.com used to be called until sometime in 2005)and looking through the list of episodes "The Movie" was the one listed episode back in like 2000 that had almost ZERO information about it, not even a production code, so somebody must've misremembered it and submitted it to TVTome and every episode guide since then has just been piggybacking off that original flawed list. Looking up the guide on Wayback Machine and visiting the page of that episode I have to say those quotes sound fake as all hell.

Oh wow. I didn’t know TV.com had existed before 2005 under a different name. That’s interesting though that fake episodes were added to the site.

Oh yeah it was more common then you'd think, I remember seeing fake episodes of Megaman Axxess and Victorious listed as well.
. I remember…reading that they "rarely aired on TV"
Sounds sort of like the same case as the missing Out Of The Box episodes. Although I’m starting to think those are actually a hoax. While the episodes themselves DID exist, they were reshot for season 2 and it seems like the originals were never aired. While the titles did appear in some listings, I’m thinking at this point that it was a misprint that was eventually corrected, since they’re shown airing when two other episodes (“Unicornicopia” and “Tooth or Consequences”) would have premiered.
I’ll check newspapers.com for these titles, though, and see if I get any results.
EDIT: Nothing. Which makes me think this is probably a hoax.
