I have no idea...Steve Newman seems pretty unwavering in his decision not to let it out. I wouldn't be surprised if the suicide tape comes out before the Suncoast Digest episode will.
Judging by the few moments seen in Kate Plays Christine, Rebecca Hall does an amazing job portraying her, and honestly, I think for anyone that has such an overwhelming curiosity about seeing either piece of existing footage needs to see Christine (it's pretty much like watching the real thing).
No major news on this fate of the existing tape of her suicide newscast, but I did find an interesting piece from last September on the ethics of preserving something like footage of her death. TLDR- this writer is for it for historical purposes, but they think one should be allowed to look at it again afterward.
Long-time lurker, here. I had to make an account to say this because, after several months of discussion, I can't believe nobody else has.
As much as I'd like to believe the kind gentleman who shared details of what is most likely the most shocking and horrifying moment in his life, isn't it entirely possible that he would try and make sure the tape would never surface, going so far as to lie in the face of an authentic copy to deter people from spreading it?
I'm sorry, the desk/set recreation and the amount of effort put into staging such a thing combined with even the slightest possibility of my theory being true just nag my mind, and this is something I haven't seen said yet. So please don't get upset at me for throwing it out there. I don't know if this is true or not, but it's a possibility worth thinking about.
Also; It's probably been posted already and I've missed it, but can someone post the police report's actual wording and specificity about the camera angle? That would kind of be the end of the whole "Is Gordon lying?" thing. Because you can describe Squid's footage as "only showing Christina's head and shoulders" seeing as the rest of her body is obscured by the desk.

I'm sorry, but that footage featured on "Freaky 5 - Lost Footage" by YouTube user Nationsquid has been debunked a long time ago as an elaborate hoax to increase the amount of subscribers to his channel. Plus the footage didn't accurately re-create Chubbuck's suicide, such as when she shot herself in the right ear, she doesn't fall violently forward onto her desk like she did in real-life and instead falls backwards unrealistically.
I just view the whole Nationsquid debacle as a disgusting and disrespectful one as he re-created a haunting live suicide from over 44 years ago just for a publicity stunt for his YouTube channel, when the real Chubbuck would have opposed such things like she had with sensationalized violence over legitimate journalism.
Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.

It's been a super long time since anybody has ever talked about her. I'm probably the only one who still even cares about it. Oh well. Anyway, I kept listening to the intro of her show, and wanted to know if anybody has full audio of the intro. The 4 second clips from youtube are not even close to the full thing.

But then who made the intro theme? And what was it called? Was it litterally the name of the show?

The dude in the video took the words right out of my mouth: I'm not trying to be holier than thou, but she was mostly a myth before seeing this; now (seeing her in action), it dawned on me that it's kinda rude for people to be clamoring to see this poor woman end her life.
On the flip side, if she didn't want people to see it, she wouldn't done it on live TV... the moral debate of the Christine Chubbuck tape; it just fits the lost media code: there's nothing to gain from releasing it, a la basement tapes, 847, etc. (obviously one of those things is not like the other)

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I agree with the guy. I do think that it is kinda disgusting that people are looking high and low for her suicide video. And like he said, we wouldn't be looking for it if it never happened. I just feel like her life was completely erased. They could've kept her other broadcasts and shown them. I can honestly relate to her on a personal level (pre-suicide). I think while they made the right call not showing the video ever, they should've let her other taped broadcast air. Even if there's only one or two innocent tapes (Seeing that the one seen looks not to br from Suncoast Digest, rather her time before that). And again, the only thing that I want to see or know is who worked on the song shown at the beginning of her broadcasts.

But he was kinda full of shit when he claimed that her biggest beef was the local news turning to blood and gore. Shooting herself on air not only contributed to that violence, it did so in a fashion that I'm willing to bet was exponentially more graphic and horrific than anything her station previously aired.
I feel as if the Christine Chubbuck tape is one of those pieces of lost media we'll just never get actual footage of. Unless the remaining tape is stolen. Maybe It's for the better

Most of me agrees with you but part of me thinks, that as she killed herself on air, she maybe wanted it to be available? Didn't she write in her will that she wanted the tape not to be destroyed.
