What's your "Glad I dodged that bullet!" moment

Speaking of overrated popular pieces of media by bigoted Brits i'm genuinely happy that I never got into Monty Python after I found out what a vile piece of shit Terry Gilliam is(John Cleese too to a lesser extent)also found Brazil and Twelve Monkeys to be overrated and overly grimdark nonsense and i'm glad I never got into them.

As for HP I enjoyed the books and the movies well enough(and I played a few of the games as did my sister) but once the shitty prequels that nobody asked for started coming out that's when I noped out of the franchise and i'm glad I did.

Yeah definitely one of those series that I find just too "generic" to enjoy like I do other young adult/children's books. The aspects that I adore about the books-the use of interesting vocabulary and allusions, some of the characters, and some of the worldbuilding-just aren't enough to interest me in rereading the series anytime soon. No kidding, I have had copies of the books for years now and I have never bothered to reread them once. 
Weird comparison, but I once read an article on how "To Kill a Mockingbird" is just too "simple" to actually make a classic book. The article writer argued that the book "just doesn't have the same level of sophisticated symbolism and themes of other classic novels. It's too jejune. You read it and basically get the same message every time."

With that kind of summation, made me think of Harry Potter to an extent.

There was a job I really, really, REALLY wanted a couple of years ago. Ended up not applicable for it. Twice.
Found out what said job was years after the fact, including the fact that I probably wouldn't have even gotten the actual "version" of said job I wanted.
Probably dodged a bullet there.

I almost went to university to study geography, don't get me wrong I like geography and find that stuff fun. But I'm glad I dropped out and am an animator now, maybe I'll animate some geography videos someday. I think I was just going to uni to go to uni.

I was seriously interested in becoming an American college professor for a bit. I REALLY wanted that gig! My professors seemed so content, they had great schedules, cool friends, and motivated, driven students!!! What's not to love?

WELL, one of my professors basically took me aside one day and told me that it "wasn't worth it." While K-12 education will sometimes pay you more for a PhD, actual job opportunities in a LOT of colleges are few and far between (especially now), force you into horrific debt, makes you beg for funding year after year after year, are extremely competitive, pay dirt (you often make more teaching K-12), are dependent on "student satisfaction" (no matter how arbitrary), and don't offer tenure or job security much anymore. A lot of professors are actually on freaking food stamps with how badly they are paid, and how few benefits they get. McDonalds pays more in some cases.

I might still consider pursuing a PhD in the future if I find a field that might interest me enough, but it will be on MY time and I won't be fully dependent on it for a job.

When I started going to a technical college in the 2000s, there was a woman in my class about my age. We got on well and she seemed nice enough. She once told me that she thought about asking me out which I would have been happy about. I forgot to ask her why she didn't, but she ended up dating another guy in the class. As nice as she was, after I found out about her dad and who he was, maybe it was for the best we hadn't dated. For reasons I won't get into, he was probably not the type of person you want to know and be associated with.
