I'm pretty sure being a moderator is a dictatorship and not a democracy, but if you'd like my two cents: I think that we don't really have that much need for new forums mods. I am mildly scared by the creator of this thread's enthusiasm towards moderation, and would not be ready to support their candidacy for moderatorship if "candidacy for moderatorship" was a thing that existed. Ultimately I think the system for getting new moderators is fine as it is, but a thread for discussing potential new moderators would be an interesting thing to have (if in danger of introducing unwanted elements of a popularity contest - holding moderator elections is an extremely bad idea for obvious reasons, and I don't want the moderator role to become a status symbol)
You're scared cause I want to help out? The mods are usually busy so they could use a helping hand. Not sure what your problem is.

I don't want to dwell on this for too long but the TL;DR is that I'm getting ... weird vibes? And I don't want this to be construed as an attack on you as a community member: that's why I'm so opposed to having moderator elections, because the chasm of difference between "I don't think this person should be moderator" and "I don't like this person" is extremely hard to convey in a text based format. I have no problem with you at all!
I could talk about all of the other people who have said they want to be mod, but I would personally rather this thread turn to discussion of the moderator role as a whole rather than individuals, since I feel like there's some fundamental "How do people become moderator?" question that the community should probably answer before it is appropriate to discuss whether individual people should get the role. I think the current staff team would be far more qualified to talk on this matter, but the ideal "formal moderator process" in my head is community discussion of whether a person should be a moderator, with the caveat that I fear the potential for personal attacks may be too high. However, since this process does not currently exist, the community does not have any power over the mod process and therefore there really is nothing productive that could come of discussing individual candidates - I'm sorry I brought it up.
(is my writing style annoying by the way? it's something i'm kind of self-conscious about)
_alexpine_ on discord. 2018 was HOW many years ago?!?! If RPGMakerFan12 is so good, why isn't there an RPGMakerFan13? lostmediawiki.com/User:BrightyLighty

It's not annoying I just have no idea what you're saying. I made this to let the mods discuss, other people just started volunteering after I did. And I don't know what you mean by "weird vibes". I just want to help off-topic every now and then when the other mods are busy.

From what I understand, mansionofspace only wants to mod the off-topic section, so maybe not a global mod? Again, I have no power in this situation, I'm just allowing the discussion to be had.
Personally, I wouldn't mind any help, as long as people are responsible and respectful as mods. Currently, Ziggycashmere and I the most active mods on the forums. James, an admim, came back for awhile, which was helpful.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind being the sheriff, duty teacher, mean big sister-but if somebody wanted to pitch in, I'm not opposed. Albeit, for the right reasons. I know who I'd advocate for here, although that'd be between myself and whoever is in charge of poofing users into mods.
I messaged Dycaite about being a mod, and it had to be discussed amongst other mods/admins, so there is a process of sorts. I'm not opposed to this current process, I imagine they look at post history and see how reliable you are.

Yes, only Off-Topic. I understand that you and the others can't always be active and have the other main stuff to moderate. I'm usually browsing around on here and keep a eye on stuff.
I hope you become a mod! You were talkin bout it on my live stream and you actually seem fit for the job
Hi Im Red! Nice to meet you! I Rarely search for lost media but when i do i dont do anything noticeable but i atleast do something, I am making a web series [CANCLED TILL LATE 2024-2025 FOR CONTINUATION]
Now just pointing this out, I also want to be a mod here too!
When Elmerfudd quit you chose to just post a clip of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs instead of reassuring, helping, or doing anything that could have been useful and still joked around later. A canidate for a Mod doesn't really act like that. You need to be helpful and not post memes all the time.

I posted that scene since I knew that thread was going to get locked. And I'm helpful, just look at some of the searches I helped with. I practically look at credits for films every day just to try and find something.
"I posted that scene since I knew that thread was going to get locked." That's really immature of you. And helping with SEARCHES isn't the same as helping out as a mod. Those are completely different things.
Yeah, I might be a new registered user (I've been lurking for years though, haha) and the amount of actual off-topic posting and spam messages (not in the sense of bots but more akin to someone just replying "ok" or some similarly useless phrase) is incredible.
If the mod team is hiring in any capacity, I'd love to shoot my shot! I've moderated (and administrated!) several Discord servers, forums, and web games, and I believe my background in both customer service and hospitality would be of immense help in terms of empathy and fairness towards the userbase.
If not, no worries! I'll have other opportunities in the future :]
