Another unidentified game on this board? What a surprise! Well, there actually IS some sort of interesting thing about it & that thing is quite similar to another unidentified game I talked about recently: You can actually download & play it!Maniac Moons is a very obscure unreleased PS1 game that was set for some sort of release in an unknown year. It's on the unidentified media board because it's unknown as to who developed the game or who was set to publish it. There exists posts about this game from as early as August of 2005, suggesting the prototype had been dumped & released onto the internet around that time period.
Rumor has it that this game was taken from a bunch of sales of various Acclaim assets, but this is so far unconfirmed & from what I could tell, a whole bunch of recent research from Acclaim(includingproofofthe auction) seems to suggest that this is not a title of theirs. Unfortunately, I am not an expert on going through a game's code. If anyone here is an expert on looking through PS1 code or knows of any to contact(perhaps The Cutting Room Floor can help us out here?), go right ahead into the code & see if there are any clues as to who made it & also some other unused content, plus perhaps a way to get level 2(of 21 levels) to work as it currently just crashes when you try to play it.
EDIT: I should note that I'm keeping this thread bookmarked because I want to see new replies on my profile feed & I do hope that perhaps one day more information can be found on this strange game.
Still though, I can't seem to find any new info on this, especially nothing about who made it. I was hoping that I could find some long abandoned thread on some obscure forum talking about this, perhaps having info on where this prototype actually came from, but alas I can't find such a thing.

Whilst searching up "ps1 maniac moons" to source the PlayStation Museum video, I DID find someone who uploaded one of her stream from Twitch about cancelled PS1 games & this game was featured alongside several others.
