Hi everyone! :3 Hope you're all having a good day. Or night, depending on what time you're seeing this.
What was the first screamer video that you saw online? Or game? That you can personally remember.
Mine was the Michael Jackson ghost video, back in 2010. I developed an obsession over MJ at the time, so I was practically binging every video I could find. I stumbled upon the video, and yeah I got scared from it. Even worse, I was all alone in my basement. Fun times....

Very likely the Scary Maze Game or that Ghost Car video. I had a strange fascination with ghost videos on YouTube, regardless how obviously fake they were. Early YouTube had its charm but it was not too fun for little me, considering how easily scared I was and the fact that there was a peak in screamer videos at that time.
Weirdly, I have never clicked on one of these types of videos.
lmfao, you're lucky then. These were everywhere back in the day. They were hard to avoid if you weren't careful enough. Even I, who knew about them prior to my first screamer, fell victim.

Oh for sure. Yep, when YouTube introduced that little window thingy where you can scroll and see parts of the video, I used that to my advantage.
In 2009 when I was sitting in a library, I heard a CRASH of a chair falling over and a shriek from some girl near me. She had seen the Michael Jackson ghost video haha. While it wasn't me, I can say that it was one of the earliest jumpscare videos that I was exposed to!

No doubt the little window bit really helped. I find myself often browsing the Screamer wiki just for the fun of it and looking at all of the old and new screamer videos that just so happen to pop up on YouTube. I'm surprised there's that many.

Me too: the only ones I ever clicked on were for .exe games & a scary maze game video compilation, which meant they were obvious. Most of what I watched were YTPs, sparta remixes, "scary" logos, gameplay of old school games, etc., but I never encountered a screamer video.
Dreams are boundless, imaginations are infinite, space is a multi-directional spiral & Akazukin ChaCha is my favorite anime
On a somewhat related note. At my old job where I worked with 8mm film. I found one where someone made their own screamer-like reel. No sound, but it was similar to Ghost Car where it started out with trees and suddenly cut to a creepy image of a girl. I think the reel was from the 70s or early 80s.

Is it lost? I wonder what it looked like?
It was someone's home movie, I don't think that counts as lost media.
My job was to scan it to digital and give it back to them, so they have a scanned copy.
The only part that would maybe be "lost media" was the creepy image of the girl, it must have been taken from a book or magazine. But I sort of don't want to send people on a goose hunt looking for a staged image of someone being hanged. That is a bit too disturbing.
there was a video of a little girl dancing and twirling and the title recommended full screen, i listened and go jumpscared
I immediately was familiar with the video just from the brief description. Honestly one of the more terrifying screamers.
One major rule about screamer videos is to not do what the uploader tells you to do (get closer, go fullscreen, turn up your volume, etc). I've managed to learn that the hard way.

I was around 10 years old, possibly a year younger or older. It was a short video that started with part of the intro cutscene of my favourite videogame The Dog Island, but it cut to what I think was a damaged porcelain baby doll. I was terrified
