Pieces of lost media you want to be found but won’t happen

I know I'm kinda flying to close to the sun with this one, but the two unrestorable scenes in Metropolis. I know, we already found most of the film, and it's not that much, but having those two scenes missing irks me (think a jigsaw puzzle with two of the edge pieces missing).

I think the two scenes will probably remain unrestored, since it took 81 years after the release of Metropolis for the uncut version to be found and there's likely no other copies of the scenes in existance, but we're so close to perfection, so why not try? Even if we end up empty-handed, we'll still have closure that the scenes are probably permanently lost, and we won't ever try to get it again.

On a similar note, I would also had loved to see the Feast of Steven before it was wiped from existence, but that's just impossible to ask for. There is absolutely zero chance that the Feast of Steven is still surviving, as much as I don't want it to be. I truly hate 20th century BBC (and other media company's media preservation in the early-mid 20th century, honestly) media preservation, but unfortunately there's nothing you can do about the past.

The Feast of Steven is widely considered one of the only Doctor Who episodes lost to time forever, as their original masters were wiped in 1969 and no other copies were known to have been made. There aren't even any snippets, the entire thing is lost and no visuals exist.

A caveat you would expect to find with this is overseas copies; several Doctor Who episodes were recovered from copies in places like Australia, so why not search there? The issue with this and The Feast of Steven is that TFOS was a Christmas special, meaning that it was likely never copied to other countries, mainly because by the time the copies got there it would have been too late and Christmas would've been over (also, some countries just dont celebrate Christmas). Since there were so many issues with making copies of TFOS for other countries, the BBC decided to just not make more masters.

TFOS has likely been permanently lost to time after the original (and only) masters were wiped in 1969, as I mentioned previously. While someone could've telerecorded the whole episode, it's highly likely that time and the elements would have worn the possible recording quality down, maybe even to the point where it's unrestorable (there's also the possibility that people who could've telerecorded the special thought it would be back next year, and didn't bother to preserve the damn thing).

Telerecording is pretty much the British term for Kinescope. If you don't know what Kinescoping is, it's pretty much pointing a movie camera at a TV while it's broadcasting something; think videotaping before videotaping was a thing. It wasn't really that reliable, and sometimes the video would be pretty shoddy in quality, but it's definitely better than nothing.

The Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad. David Ayer stated in January this year he’s pretty much given all hope of his cut being released.

It’s a shame. At least we fought hard, but alas, it was all for nothing. We’ll never get to see his true vision of the film, which he probably since disowned as well as the theatrical cut.
