They got to the point where there's actual pedophilia on the site and do nothing about it. I've asked people to report it, I've reported it, but nothing has happened.
I'm nothing but a mass of concrete yet my heart is calling my name
People have been bitching and complaining about DeviantFart and how it's getting worse and worse and going to die any time now for literal years.
And spoiler alert: that hasn't happened.
Like I joined the platform kinda late (2012) and even back then, people were posting this exact same shit and they were likely doing it before I joined.
As a 2010 member I kind of agree it will still stick around. Though I do think those people have a reason to be "bitching and complaining" when the Eclipse UI came around. Also the annoying AI pictures and the download feature isn't public anymore. Which means you can't archive downloads on the WBM since those require you to login. In my case, the MMD community is notorious for taking down their models and this change is preventing ones to archive models that could possibly be lost media.
As much as DA has its severe issues, part of me just doesn't want it to go away. I don't want every site on the interwebs being super corporate, plain, and sterile, and there's just enough that I like on DA that I don't want to go away. But also if it gets run into the ground, then so be it. I would hope that the artists there manage to scrounge together a new hangout spot.

To me, DeviantArt feels like a husk of its former self. I don't know much despite being an older member, though. I just remember there being a lot of toxicity and hatred being on DA. It was very obvious during the whole "cringe culture" shenanigans that happened somewhere in 2015-2016. The fact that DA supports AI-generated stuff is already enough for me to let it go if I haven't already.
I feel like DeviantArt started really going downhill when they rolled out the Eclipse UI and forced all users to switch to it. Sure, they were going somewhat downhill before this, but not as severe as it is now. Then there's the generative AI features...
