I honestly don't have the time to watch all of this and compare it lol- if you're in the US I'll send ya the set- just pay shipping costs.
No need, as I mentioned earlier in the thread i already bought my own copy of the PAL set a few days ago and hopefully it should within the next 2 weeks, really excited to hear that the episodes are uncut so far!

Looks I may need you to send me your copy of the box set after all, because the one i ordered just arrived today and all of the episodes on my copy appear to be the same versions as the ones on all the other DVD sets. Now I did read some reviews on Amazon UK that mentioned that some copies of this set had playback issues so it's entirely possible the set got "fixed" at a later date and some copies have the same versions of episodes as the NTSC sets while others are entirely uncut(this sort of thing does happen on occasion with DVDs, for example the original version of the Simpsons season 14 set was actually missing a scene in "Dude, Where's My Ranch?" that was trimmed for syndication, so the set had to be reissued with that scene intact). So it's possible you might have an uncut copy of the set.
Just to make sure though, does the episode "The Zack Tapes" have this ending on your set? Cause the syndicated version ends early in Belding's office while the original version ends at The Max. If your copy has this ending then i'll know for sure it's uncut.
OK I decided to messaged a bunch of sellers on Ebay UK to see if any of them had the uncut version of the set and one responded and said they did so I bought it from them, hopefully it'll arrive before the end of the month. From the responses I got from sellers it seems like some of the UK sets mention on the front that the episodes are uncut while others do not.
Also found out there are two versions of the French set, one that came out in 2018(which according to one review posted that year on Amazon FR has the edited versions) and the special edition that came out in 2021(Which might have the uncut versions).
Fellow SBTB fan who coincidentally just started looking into the same questions about the DVD's you've been discussing here.
After recently seeing that Peacock randomly removed all of their classic SBTB content, I knew I needed to commit to a physical media release for one of my favorite shows, so I looked into all of the *several* Complete Collection boxsets to see which one I preferred. I was about to buy the most recent release (the SBTB logo is all white on a blue circle) before I stumbled across this forum talking about the DVD's being edited for syndication. I saw the comment about the UK Region 2 release possibly having the full-length original broadcast episodes and since i'm in the UK I bought it on Amazon UK and had it the next day. I downloaded a torrent file for one of the U.S. complete series releases and started going through random episodes to directly compare the runtimes, I got to "Save the Max" and saw the runtime was roughly 2 minutes longer on the UK disc version. There's a scene halfway through the episode between Slater and Max that I don't think i've ever seen until now. I was so hyped that i'd apparently found the uncut episodes release.....except I hadn't. I looked at your post which had the video link for the uncut version of The Zack Tapes episode so I went to that episode next to compare, which on the UK dvd release disappointingly ended in the syndication episodes spot in Belding's office. This means (for god knows what ridiculous reason) they decided to release a Complete Series boxset featuring *some* of the original uncut episodes...but not all of them??? I truly don't know what goes into an incoherent decision like this, and it's beyond annoying that it makes fans of the show have to go into such a lengthy deep-dive exactly like we're doing here, but as far as i'm aware this is as good as it gets for the UK Region 2 dvd release of the show.
My only remaining questions are the following:
- Are all 4 of the Region 1 Complete Series boxsets confirmed to have only the edited syndication versions? Or could one of them have the "some uncut/some edited" release like the UK version?
- Could this French Complete Series release you mentioned have the fully unedited original versions?

Yeah all of the Region 1 DVD sets are like that, half of the episodes are uncut(Save the Max being of them)and the other half are the edited versions.
However i've been told by others that this UK set did have all of the episodes uncut(and even advertised it as such on the box) and I noticed that some reviews on Amazon UK mentioned that some discs were defective out of the box, I have a theory-the original printing of the set had the syndicated versions of some episodes and uncut versions of others and after people complained about the defective discs Fabulous Films recalled the set and decided to take the opportunity to correct the mistake by making it so all of the episodes were uncut on there(and I didn't test every disc on the UK set I had before I sold it on Ebay so it's entirely possible some of the discs were defective).
Anyways Videoranger007 got back to me and agreed to send me his set, I know I already ordered another one from Ebay but i'm not taking any chances with this show, I want to be damn sure i've exhausted every retail option before I have to resort to tracking down uncut TV recordings and whatnot.
It's possible the French set might be uncut as well as there are two different versions of it-the original release in 2018 had an Amazon review saying it had the syndicated versions of several episodes but there was also a special edition of that set released in 2021 and i've not seen any reviews say that one had the edited versions so it might have the uncut versions, if worst comes to worst i'll import the special edition of that French set and see how that goes.
"Yeah all of the Region 1 DVD sets are like that, half of the episodes are uncut(Save the Max being of them)and the other half are the edited versions."
Really? I had no idea. So does that mean the UK set I have isn't special whatsoever and I could get the latest Region 1 complete series set and still have the exact same half edited/half uncut episodes? Because if that's the case then i'm one hundred percent sending back my UK release with its horrendous boxart and cheap outer cardboard box in favor of the latest Region 1 release.
It's fascinating about the history of the UK release you laid out. Perhaps we'll never know if it was re-called for defective discs or to change the episodes length. Which specific set did you order on eBay?

Yeah pretty much I think, though videoranger says his set is uncut so who knows?
Anyways since I got paid recently I decided to finally bite the bullet and get myself a copy of the special edition of the box set that came out in France in 2021(lucky for me Amazon FR was able to ship it directly to my address so I didn't have to use Forward2me like I did with some overseas DVD releases), that one is unique in that it also has the complete series of The College Years on it as well(whereas in the US College Years got it's own separate DVD release though I think the Canadian DVD box set also had it included)though they call it "The High School Years"(roughly translated since college isn't really a thing in Europe). The reviews of the initial 2018 release(which funnily enough is actually more expensive and difficult to find now then the "special edition" is)said they used the syndicated versions of the episodes(with one review even going into detail as to specific lines and scenes that got removed)but i've been unable to find any info if that's also true for the special edition so I figure it's at least worth a shot.
I think it's going to be a miracle at this point to find an official DVD release with the uncut versions. I'm glad I did the research and found out about the partially uncut boxsets that are out there since i'd rather have some uncut episodes than none at all, but I think that's the best we can hope for unless another complete set releases sometime in the future.
I would just love to know the logic behind not releasing the full-length episodes on the home media releases. It's not airing on tv where you have a locked amount of time you have to meet, this shouldn't have ever been an issue to begin with!

it's especially weird since by all accounts the cut versions were exclusive to syndication in the US and never made it overseas so there's no logical reason overseas DVDs should have those versions.
Anyways hopefully the special edition of that French DVD set has them all uncut, it should arrive sometime late next week at the earliest.
French DVD arrived and alas that one also turned out to be a bust, i'm going to check out the season one DVD that came out in Australia to see if I have any better luck with that one(unfortunately only season one got a DVD release in AU territory). On the plus side I did find this Instagram page with a bunch of deleted scenes, but on the downside most of them are only in a foreign dub(though one deleted scene in the foreign dub does weirdly feature Mr Belding singing "These Boots are Made for Walkin" in English, presumably whoever was in charge of the foreign dubs didn't feel like bothering to record a separate foreign dub of the song): www.instagram.com/explore/tags/sbtbdeletedscenes/
Thanks for the update on the French set, can't say i'm surprised that it's another bust.
The deleted scenes Instagram page was a cool find, will give it a look through.
It's a shame the SBTB franchise in general got such repeatedly poor treatment with its home video releases. Aside from the main show, every other spin-off is either widely out of print or was never released full-stop (the Peacock reboot only had season 1 released on DVD, so no season 2 which means buying season 1 is pointless and the fact that they didn't even bother with a blu-ray release for a modern HD show is an absolute joke). Thank god for online torrents being available as a last resort, I bought the most recent US dvd release for the main show but literally everything else is now sitting on a hard drive. One absolute saint even uploaded near-perfect quality episodes of The New Class which I haven't watched in decades.

Yeah you'd think a show as popular and influential as this one(all of the Nickelodeon and Disney sitcoms can be traced back to this show)would get better treatment on the home video and streaming front. I am talking to a contact of mine who has a fuckton of tapes, many of which he has not gone through yet so it's entirely possible he might have uncut recordings.
Got some more info from someone on Reddit. Apparently earlier DVD releases in France before 2018 did in fact have the uncut versions but later ones did not, so I was partially right. Also the uncut version is apparently available on Prime over there but there's a catch-the episodes only appear to have French audio so that's no good. So guess i'll see about checking out those season DVDs in France.
Hello, this is a very interesting thread. I love the show and I didn't know that many episodes were edited. This explains why I couldn't find the scene I was looking for in the version I have.
1) Maybe someone could tell me in which episode there is a scene with Zach in his bedroom speaking to the audience (breaking the 4th wall) about kelly and using a remote to have a large poster of her coming down from the ceiling. I tried many episodes, and I can't find it. must be one of the deleted scenes? 2) I am not sure to understand which version of the show is unedited and where to find it. DVD? Peacock?
