Hey guy's how's it going? I'm sorry I haven't been on here too often. School started again and I've been busy. I have kept up with the posts on this forum and have seen the great effort and finds everybody has brought to our attention.
I saw the post about the shows airings and reruns, and I have contacted TV Asahi, Tokyo Broadcasting System, and Fuji TV. I may also contact other Japanese channels just for good measure.
Well, I'll keep up with this forum, and until next time, talk to you guys later!
These reruns didn't air on the main stations in Kanto (apart from the NTV rerun), you should most likely contact Aomori Broadcasting, Television Iwate, Kumamoto Broadcasting or Hiroshima HOME TV. These all aired the entire series.
I would just like to weigh in here, it seems that doraemon has got a large following in Japan especially with a certain age group. If it is true that the animation studio went bankrupt that would mean that these reels or masters were then disposed of either by way of auction or selling them at a set price (most probably the former rather than the latter). Initially they might not have been worth much however when the fanbase started to develop, the prices most definitely soared. I don't think it remained as high as it once was as interest in the property has dwindled. Doraemon has got many collectors, the best way to find episodes is to determine wether they have copies, if so which episodes do they have. If we take a look at the snippets of information available one thing becomes clear, somebody has got episodes however they are not sharing and they won't unless the right price comes along. They paid a certain price, in order for them to sell you match the price (if the collector is really friendly, really nice and he's not a collector of Doraemon specifically but rather film) or match the collector's price (the price they want and usually they don't even sell even if you are able to pay that price because they are too attached to it.). Judging by that which is available, one of two scenarios exist, an employee at the museum or a collector. Both instances are less than ideal, the museum is not going to sell. It is not lost contacting the channels that aired it they might have valuable information they are willing to share however I am only aware of a single instance where they obliged and that was for a tv movie called "the Bogie man" by the BBC. The voice actors if available online may also keep copies but in the end you will have to go back to pen and paper writing in order to find the bulk of it.
I saw somebody asking for episodes on either U-matic or 16mm Film, either one of those is going to cost money. U-matic is unlikely as it was highly expensive and only the rich could afford for a brand new sealed u-matic you are looking at $1000 roughly and the price a recording can be higher. 16mm can be as low as $100 however taking the subject matter into account and the fact that it is Japanese, you can expect a low of round about roughly $500.
Hey guys. It's been a while, but since I'm on break I thought to look for more information.
I decided to check Google Hong Kong because of Doraemon's huge following in Asian countries. I saw the Wikipedia page, and while most of the stuff there was info we already know, I found a few interesting things that I don't know if we have come across. I had to use Google Translate, so my information may be a bit off.
-Nobita went to a school called "Castle Town Elementary School". -The last episode had a pattern of yellow birds flying, representing parting. -The last episode also included a different end title card. Usually the title card read,"Looking Forward to Next Week"(or something on those lines), but this title card said,"Look Forward to Next Time". -There's also a paragraph about the duck robot, Gatchako. From what I interpreted, Gatchako lived with Shizuka (This may be true since the only images that surfaced of Gatchako besides the ending are when both are on screen together). -In that same paragraph, there's also something about a "ボ Tatari son" living with Shizuka. I don't know if this is referring to Gatchako, but there's also a mention about "domestic helpers" in there too.
Now I can't confirm if this is true (This is Wikipedia we're talking about). Plus, these are my interpretations and what I gathered from the page. Like I said, Google Translate is shoddy, so I had to try to piece together all this info with the poorly done translation. I'll try to look for more information on pages besides Wikipedia.
On one of the pages I was looking at, there is a link for a Yahoo! Auctions page, The page leads to an error message, but it could have been video footage of Doraemon, meaning that people have and sold tapes of the series.

In the 1973 anime, Gachako lived in Shizuka's house as a sponger. That "ボ Tatari son" is a mistranslation of "Botako", a girl that appeared in the Episode 5, that lived in Shizuka's house as a "domestic helper". Also, Gatchako is a mistranslation, the correct name is Gachako.

Effectively, the auction page is about film reels of episodes or something else. When I took a look at the Wikia page, the auction link was "舊ドラえもん影片拍賣", Old ド ラ え oman movie auction (Old Doraemon Movie Auction) according to Google Translate. The auction page was archived once in the Wayback Machine, in 2012, but the error message was already there, so it can be assumed that the page is very old.

All of those episodes' images can be found at the Doraemon Wiki.
