Agree man, things have gone too far with those who want this law to actually exist. I am willing to bet the Taco Bell jobs would definitely suck considering how the toilets usually are there, but well, they have to do something to raise some money.

Not to dox anyone, but I would love to hear if anything is actually happening now with this bill in Florida? Is anyone there talking about it? The bill doesn't seem to even define what "social media" is in that context. I mean, yeah the easy answer would be Facebook or Twitter, but as I mentioned prior, what about just using the internet for a social function??? Do message boards count? Does playing a game over social medium count? A Zoom meetup/hangout??? MMORPGs? MOBAs? I know some companies will just block their entire sites within states or countries when stupid legislation passes. Some recent update news, as it hasn't actually technically gone through yet. And could still be challenged the way other state bills have:
When I was a kid I remember using the Webkinz clubhouse that has a chat system but only let you choose from pre-approved phrases.
I think ToonTown was similar? Sadly never got to play it but maintained a bizarre fascination with it and other "sort of kind of kids social media sites" like Club Penguin. They were advertised in the kids magazines I still read and on the kids TV shows I still watched (though I would pretend I was just watching with my younger sibling haha). I was well past age 10 at that point so no idea why I wanted to try out these sites so badly LOL.

Already come up in another thread but it's applicable. No I don't like it when the Chinese government collects information on me BUT I also don't like it when US companies do it either (especially when such info can be compromised and then used as blackmail against me, or in identify theft scams). This feels hypocritical and a violation of First Amendment rights.

What if there was a website with anonymous posting and viewing like 4Chan, but there were 4 versions: 1 for ages 3 (I learned how to use the internet at 3) to 8, another version for ages 9 to 13, another version for ages 14 to 17, and one final version for ages 18 and up? It would have present moderators and if somebody does something that is inappropriate, vulgar, or offensive, they would be banned. If somebody is still active on their accounts for the younger demographic versions, they would be banned.

I heard certain Discord servers and internet servers use a method of moderation similar to that. There are still issues of course, but it does seem more reasonable.
