Debunked. SpongeBob only read one clue. As a clip from the episode was found: youtu.be/4-B3TxsxS9k
Oh ok. So he didn't read all the clues, but based on the J!archive page, it seems like he introduced the category and read one clue. Don't know why they wouldn't just have him read all the clues though.
Still, it's cool to have SOME footage from the episode. That's more than I've been able to find on my own so thanks for that. We just need to find the rest.

This is a blues clues question? The normal host is also reading it. I found a clip from a kids week (not sure if its the same one) about spongebob, but like the blues clues question linked, its just alex trebek reading it as usual youtu.be/VDOmTZwAdjw

This clip is not from the Episode 4229, as the contestants are not the same. Also, the other clip IS from 4229, Spongebob only presented one question (according to J! Archive).
I know this thread has been dead for a while, but I possibly found some new (technically old) leads. I found the LinkedIn of Patrick Derocher, one of the contestants on the episode. It's been inactive since last year, but it's something. On top of that, the law firm he works at has a page for him that contains both a phone number and an email address. I haven't contacted any of these yet, but if anyone wants to, they can. I think that Patrick might be the best lead we have
Replying to this again just so maybe somebody notices this thread and might be interested in helping with the search.
In response to the most recent comment, I guess it's possible one of the contestants would have a recording of the episode, but... I really don't want to bother them about it. 😅
I just sent an email to Patrick Derocher asking if he can confirm that SpongeBob did read a question and if he could provide any footage if possible. I’ll make an update if he replies.
A suggestion would be to look into the game show trading circles and see if they list having the episode in question and see if they can confirm if it is in there. That's what I did when someone was asking for an episode of a game show of there grandparents a few years ago. That's the best option.
For some reason I wrote this off of my lost media list because I thought we concluded SpongeBob didn't actually do anything in the show. But I must have misunderstood or misremembered that because it looks like you guys confirmed he read the categories and presented at least one question? Do we know it wasn't more than only one?
Still that would be a cool clip to find, and since we know the air date I guess getting a recording from that date. I don't know if there are any Jeopardy archives but I can spread this around and see if someone happens to have it without even knowing there's a search for it.

The best option would be looking at the game show trading circles. They usually have websites listing everything that have and most if not all would have Jeopardy archived.
Oh wow, I'm surprised to see new replies to this thread.
Anyway, I just messaged someone who I saw has a big page on Dailymotion full of game show airings. One of them was from Jeopardy! Kids' Week 2003, but sadly it's not the SpongeBob one. I'm hoping he has a recording of the episode and gets back to me.
Ok, this one may be a long shot, but I also requested Pluto TV to add episode 4229 to their on-demand library. But hey, it's worth a shot.
That might be interesting. The raw original tapes that distributors have access too may be more complete than the ones available by production companies or ones that news stations retained. This could be promising!
