I recently got to see a 35mm screening of Harriet the Spy, Nickelodeon's first theatrical movie. Included with the screening was the Hey Arnold! pilot that was shown before the film during its original release.
Something that intrigued me was that the pilot opened with this "Nickelodeon Shorts" intro that I had never seen before the screening. The only remnant I can find of it online are an image of frames from the film reel when it was up for auction at some point (attached below). It includes two frames from this intro alongside frames of the pilot.
The intro itself was about 10 seconds long and was fully animated like their movie opening logos.
I know that a Action League NOW! episode played before Good Burger on it's theatrical release. Maybe the theatrical version might have the Nickelodeon Shorts intro as well. Just curious.

Possibly. I recall seeing a film reel of that short also being up for auction at one point. There's a page for it on WorthPoint, no images of any frames though.

Ooh, this is interesting! I've reached out to @notjustcart00ns on Twitter, the uploader of the image you attached, to see if they know anything. Going to keep hunting in the movies and shorts aired around the time of Harriet the Spy as well in case it turns up elsewhere...So far, brute-forcing just keeps turning up that rhino logo ðŸ˜
Are there any Nickelodeon ident/logo/etc.-heads we could speak to, who may have some idea about this? Looking through the (very thorough!) lists they already have, it's fascinating that this one is missing!
Is there any more info you can tell us about the screening you saw?

In terms of where this screening happened, it was at Nitehawk Cinema in Prospect Park, NYC. They do a handful of special 35mm screenings every month. I also have a small description of the Nick Shorts intro I wrote down after leaving if that helps.
Opened in a movie theater with a very 90's graphic appearance (in true 90's Nick fashion). A cartoon guy walks into frame (looks like a Mo Willems design), looks down to realize he isn't wearing pants. He reacts in surprise as the frame zooms into his undergarments which then turn into a real pair of shorts that begin walking in place. The walking shorts are encased within an iris on an orange background. The Nickelodeon logo appears on top, and "Shorts" underneath, forming what appears in the attached image.

So sorry for the delay Stevie! Thanks so much for the description, that helps so much. I've continued my brute-force search but have come up empty-handed. However, I have also contacted Nitehawk Cinema in the hopes that they can point us in the right direction. Will keep you updated!

Great news StevieVee! The lovely folks at Nitehawk Cinema attached a higher-quality image of the Nickelodeon Shorts logo from the screening they showed. imgur.com/a/RoUYGTZ
I'm going to push to see if there's anyone who might have more information!

Last update for now! My contact Nitehawk Cinema says he has a friend who used to work at Nickelodeon. He's going to reach out and see if he has anymore information! Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Oh shoot! Just saw this now, this is awesome. I thought about contacting Nitehawk myself back when I first posted about this but didn't want to bother anyone lol. Nice to know the folks there were cool to share something. Can't wait to hear more if you find!
I just contacted one of the folks behind the YouTube channel, FT Depot who most recently, uploaded a full scan of the Animaniacs short, "I'm Mad". Their channel has more stuff of this nature, such as the Timon and Pumbaa "Stand By Me" short and the Aaahh! Real Monsters National Amusements Theater Etiquette, so I asked if they possibly had a print of the Arnold pilot.
Their response was they might, but not entirely sure as they don't really keep a database or list. The channel's uploads are more random and scattered but it doesn't completely rule out the possibility of seeing it (and therefore, the logo) turn up.

I have a potential lead? FredSeibert?
EDIT: I have reached out him, and it sent, now I'm gonna wait...
