Perhaps it's a promo for the Jimmy Neutron movie that came out before the series? I mean, Jimmy Neutron was being hyped by Nickelodeon, why not have it's biggest star promote it by doing "SpongeBob: Re-Hydrated"? Because other than the clip I have found nothing for it.
It can't be. The short is actually more of a parody of The Matrix Reloaded, which came out on May 15, 2003, than the original, so the Jimmy Neutron movie would have already been out for two years by that point.
Guys, This could really be just a bumper and wasn't a special. From looking at the CGI it doesn't compare to that of Jimmy Neutron and could have been a bumper or a clip that interrupted shows, Unless the people behind the show tell us otherwise, I'm sticking by this.
Well the anon from the /co/ thread who claims to have the VHS of this short said that it was 10 minutes long. Then again, he's the one who said this short was called The Spongetrix, which we now know is incorrect. Because of this, I'm starting to believe Radiant Lloyd Firefly's first post on this thread, saying that the anon was trolling. You might be right, it could as well just be a parody trailer of The Matrix Reloaded and not a special short that would be much longer.
Yea, sticking by this. The quality is isn't that great for a short and animation isn't like Jimmy Neutron, which it would have to be comparable too to make this a short, So it's probably a Parody Trailer of The Matrix Reloaded or just some clip that interrupted shows.
Has anyone considered calling Nickelodeon and inquiring about it? Because they might know something about it. I can call them if necessary.
EDIT: Just sent an email to Nickelodeon Animation Studio. Woman on the other line said she'd forward it to CH Greenblatt, who iirc worked on Spongebob in 2002-2003, so he may have some answers.

i would believe it, especially since the bumper only parodys clips in the reloaded trailer.
I'm probably a minority on this theory but i dont think it exists, i think all the footage of it was in that bumper and it was never a short. The only evidence that suggests it was a real short was an anon who was obviously lying.
