I do not mind the late reply. I am aware, though, that these kinds of topics get so little attention compared to the other "major" networks like Disney Channel and Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. I was actually referring to original and co-produced programming from Teletoon. You hear people talking about shows, with the most notorious being Johnny Test, and not even bother to mention, let alone describe, Teletoon. 6Teen seems to get mixed reviews, although I do plan to watch it sometime in the future. I also hear that it gave executives the wrong idea about what children want to watch, hence leading to its downfall. As for House Hippo, it is indeed special in of its own accord. I am much obliged for the suggestion.
On another note, let me briefly note the Teletoon originals and co-productions that I have seen (I am not ready to judge all of them, though): Caillou The Adventures of Paddington Bear Pippi Longstocking Ned's Newt Animal Crackers Donkey Kong Country Cybersix Angela Anaconda Mega Babies Maggie and the Ferocious Beast For Beter or for Worse Untlkative Bunny UnderGRADS Pig City Clone High Ratz Sons of Butcher Johnny Test George of the Jungle Total Drama Skatoony My Babysitter's a Vampire (yes, it counts) Detentionaire Camp Lakebottom Grojband Total Drama Presents: the Ridonculous Race
Simply put, it all airs on Arabic television and nobody gives any attention to it other than me. I need to find my videocassettes that have the show Bla Bla Bla, though. Other than that, I regret not recording the lost media.
Unfortunately, I am unsure. However, I am curious about the status of Teletoon shows overall and might get back to you if I find an answer. In the meantime, I will just watch my lonely thread in the void of disinterest that will never be answered at all since nobody gives stock in the network at all. (It is Best/Worst Teletoon Shows discussion.)
Don't you just hate it when people keep ranting about all the popular networks (Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel) and overlook so many other networks with special stories to tell that could inspire people to rant about them alongside the aforementioned networks (like making a best/worst Teletoon list), making you feel like the loneliest person at the moment?
I make a list of my favourite cartoons and place something like Sazae-san or Dragon Ball on the list. Somebody will tell me that the show does not belong on the list because it is an "anime" and not a cartoon.
Similarly, I make a list of cartoons that have been "forgotten" and place something like Total Drama on the list. This would just be confusing for so many people since that franchise has a fan base of millions of people yet has been called both underrated and overrated and is not really mentioned in conversations about animation today. (This may have been a bad example, but I am really confused about its reception at all.)
My point is that people can label any cartoon forgotten whether they are truly forgotten or merely undiscussed. (Again, I mention Oggy and the Cockroaches. You may be in the United States, but that is not an excuse to call a cartoon that you rarely hear people mention in that nation "forgotten" when it is broadcast in over 800 million households. I know that I mentioned these in my last post, but I felt that these were noteworthy antitheses to showcase.)
I like your definition, though, so the Spaghetti-O cartoon is forgotten after all (and likely lost media).
What do you think is forgotten? (Apologies for sounding redundant. I have just recently noticed some discussions about forgotten cartoons and felt bothered, as some of the cartoons seemed to have massive cult followings but were simply not mentioned anymore.)
You have probably heard it being said everywhere: "I remember a show that nobody else seems to remember anymore (or even know in the first place)." This is probably the most logical definition of a forgotten cartoon that comes to my mind.
However, some of the cartoons that people call "forgotten" seem to be remembered more than they would expect. (I am pretty sure that Total Drama is quite popular, even as of now.)
It makes me wonder: What is a cartoon that is truly forgotten?
There is, after all, a difference between a show that nobody bothers to even mention and a show that is actually forgotten.
It just seems that some shows that are so-called "forgotten" are being overshadowed by new popular shows (you know the ones) and are simply dropped subject matters.
How can I possibly prove that the Spaghetti-O cartoon is truly forgotten? Maybe more people know about it than I think and really bother not to discuss it. (Come to think of it, though, it must be forgotten since nobody bothered to mention it even on this website; otherwise, it must be buried somewhere deep in the Internet.)
What would you say is a forgotten cartoon? (Keep in mind that I am not talking about shows that nobody discusses anymore; those shows could be remembered but may not be bothered mentioning. For example, Oggy and the Cockroaches cannot be forgotten if it has been broadcast in over 800 million households.)
I am quite excited to learn about the lost media that I can discover, while I can reveal some to you.
Once I find my old videocassettes of the Lebanese show Bla Bla Bla, I shall upload videos about it.
Today, I want to discuss the Middle Eastern network Spacetoon.
Considering its poor reputation, I doubt that anyone would want to bother with collecting footage from it.
Its English network, though, is what is truly lost.
While some bumpers and a few promos for the original Arabic network can be found online, the now-defunct English version has nothing left behind.
It is a shame because I have made some discoveries from it.
One such is this cartoon that I can barely recall that aired on Planet Adventure (part of Spacetoon). It was about a group of children travelling around the world with a purple shape-shifting creature with a techno-like theme song? It likely aired in the early 2000's.
One such is the Spaghetti-O cartoon, likely airing in the late 1990's.
The theme song is indeed energetic and possibly includes vocals for both English and Italian.
There were nonstop promos for it airing on Planet Comedy (part of Spacetoon).
Speaking of which, does anybody have footage of any promos for shows that aired on the network (all acquired shows) like Tom & Jerry and Codename: Kids Next Door?
Other than that, does anybody have actual English bumpers and planet intros and outros?
I am eager to find all of this footage, as well as footage of other potential lost media airing on the network.
The second show is indeed Rintindumb (or Rantanplan by its original French name). Here is the only available English episode, Family Values.
Actually, a great deal of the shows produced by Xilam (including Rahan and Mr Baby) serve as examples of lost media. Does anybody know where to find footage of all these shows listed below?
