The short answer is - I don't know. I tried to do the same thing when I was writing the Sazae-san article but I couldn't get it to work either. It might have something to do with that the EmbedVideo extension isn't updated to the newest version, but I'm not sure about which version added playlist support, and even if updating it would fix this, I don't think it's possible to do that on the current setup without a major overhaul (don't quote me on that, you'd have to ask dycaite). Sorry.
Depending on the page you're doing this for, your best bet might be to just embed the "primary" video (if there is one), and then link the rest of the playlist inside the video caption.
We've told you and other members countless times not to harass people in the name of the LMW. This has been in the rules channel for almost a month now:
Stop acting like you had no idea what you were doing was wrong. You went behind our backs to do something that we specifically said not to do and now you're trying to make us look bad because you're salty we're following through on our rules.
that dude said the release was cancelled, not that the game was never made. if it was never made in any form then how would the ESRB have rated it? what are those screenshots from?
Here's something that's bugged me and the other staff members for a while. I've been mentally tossing around the idea of creating a video with many different tips and guidelines on writing and editing pages for the site, but since such a video would be a long way off (if it ever did happen), I'll say it here first.
Let's pretend every episode of Doraemon '73 was suddenly uploaded to YouTube (unrealistic, I know, just bear with me). The LMW page still lists it as lost though, so a user hastily updates it by jamming "EDIT: On 5/5/17, all of the episodes were found and uploaded by YouTube user DoraeMan3048" onto the end of the page.
But wait. This is NOT at ALL how you should do it.
Why? Well first of all, it's not necessary or professional to state that it's an edit. When's the last time you saw a Wikipedia page do that? I think people who do this have missed the point entirely of what a wiki is. The whole idea is that pages are updated and changed all the time. Just because it's a drastic change doesn't make that any different. And second of all, everything that came before it still says that the media is lost. Why would you leave it like that? This isn't a blog or a news site, we don't have to keep outdated info to preserve the article's previous state. If it's wrong or outdated, get rid of it. Replace it with the right information. How is it fair to make future users read through 6 paragraphs of things that aren't true and then follow it up with a brief "Whoops, never mind"??
The ultimate thing I want users to take away from this is that an article should FLOW well from the beginning to the end. There shouldn't be any sections that feel out of place. Wiki articles are written by all members of their community, but it should still FEEL like one singular voice. If it's obvious where one author left off and another one picked up, you're doing it wrong.
Think of it like this: if you owned a house and you wanted to expand it, you wouldn't just build another room right against the side wall, or build another floor on top of the roof. It requires subtle structural changes throughout, to make sure the whole thing stands as one unit. And it's the same thing with an article. Go back, read through the whole thing, and make sure everything still makes sense. I'm not asking you guys to write a novel here - sometimes it can be as simple as just changing a couple sentences to past tense. If the opening paragraph says "It has never resurfaced", change it to say "It did not resurface until ____". Things like that. Yeah, it'll take more time than adding "UPDATE" onto the end of it, but honestly, if you can't be bothered to read through the page you're editing, you shouldn't be editing it. Period. Leave it to another user who's actually willing to put in effort.
And yes, if you do some digging you will find articles where official staff members updated pages in the wrong way. But if you do some more digging, you'll notice another thing: all of these articles are very old. Our site standards have changed a lot since the LMW first started in 2012. Those types of edits used to be acceptable, and they're not anymore. I encourage everyone to fix any pages they find that do this. Thanks.
Yes, please keep in mind that we have absolutely no tolerance for articles that were hoaxes perpetrated by the authors who wrote them. If you're writing a fake article just to be an asshole, you can say goodbye to the site. This new category only applies to special cases, which we will determine individually. Additionally, this does not apply to pieces of "media" that were clearly debunked (or were already obviously fake) before the articles were even written.
Warning: this will become rather flooded over the next few days as a result of me deciding to help the community and I apologize if I make any consecutive posts. Also I'll be having formatting issues with how you admins want these posts and I apologize. As you know, the forums aren't very mobile phone friendly.
Article Name: Swedish Blueballs (Lost Short Film; 2008 Edited?: (Yes) Categories: Lost Animation Summary: The information on this piece of media was very vague and obscure, but I tried my best to help improve it. There was wasn't much I could do because it is almost as vague the info we had behind ADWSS. Despite my efforts, I'm pretty sure that it's just a stub article due to its obscurity and it will probably say that way. At least give me a gold star for effort Link: lostmediawiki.com/Swedish_Blueballs_(Lost_Short_Film;_2008)
Added to main post, thanks (I fixed up the page a little more to fully remove the tag - there's nothing wrong with a page being short, so long as it's short because there's nothing else to put there)
Article Name: Super GPS Pac-Man (canceled Wonderswan game; 2001) Edited?: (Yes) (No) Categories: Lost video game Summary: cleaned up and reworded it while also reducing plagiarism. (I also renamed the article right before posting this) Link: lostmediawiki.com/Super_GPS_Pac-Man_(canceled_Wonderswan_game;_2001)
Thanks, added to main post (I deleted the Finding Nemo page since the game was never lost, but since you made it actually readable while it was up, I still gave you credit for it) Also, since you've fixed up 5 articles, you now qualify for Volunteer status. If you have any interest in that, feel free to message dycaite about it
That's not what I would have expected it to do, but the issue was that the code for the table didn't have the closing bracket: |} I added it for you, it should be good now.
So basically, the whole thing was found already? I'm guessing that closes the book on Spongebob: Re-Hydrated then. Kinda underwhelming conclusion if you ask me, much like when we learned that the other Spongebob thing we were looking for, A Day With Spongebob Squarepants was never made to begin with.
Well, we still don't have the original audio, and we've confirmed that it probably aired on Nicktoons, but, yeah, not sure where to go from here...
The tl;dr version is that the 30 seconds of footage we had was actually the entire thing, minus the short's original audio. The LMW article has been updated to reflect this and is finally in a readable state.
When posting in this board, please follow these guidelines:
REQUESTS:
Be as descriptive as possible. Add any details you remember, even if you don't think they're important - maybe someone else happened to remember the same unimportant detail. We can't help you if you give us nothing to go on.
Give a rough timeframe wherever possible, since "I saw it as a kid" doesn't mean anything unless we know how old you are (and even if you tell us your age, we don't feel like doing math, so again, please just give an estimate). Also, be sure to differentiate between when you saw it and when it was made.
Even if you're disappointed nobody identified it, try not to bump your own thread unless you suddenly remembered more details that could help.
Please create one thread per identification request. If you have multiple unrelated pieces of media you'd like to be identified, don't try to combine them all into one thread. Exceptions would be if they truly are directly related; for instance, "What are the 3 songs used in this video?".
RESPONSES:
Don't reply with "Idk, try r/tipofmytongue". If this was our response to everything, there would be no point in this board even existing.
Don't bother with "I don't know" responses in general, since they help nobody. If you can't contribute at all, don't post anything. However, asking for more detail from the requester is acceptable (and encouraged) if you feel they weren't descriptive enough.
If you think you might know the media but aren't sure, post your response anyways. There's no harm in guessing - the worst that could happen is the requester says they were thinking of something else.
Also, if a piece of media is identified and confirmed to be lost, feel free to let a staff member know and we can move the thread to the correct board to continue discussion from there. Thanks.
