Great. How many do you think you have? I'm not personally a fan of the show, but it's good to know that someone has preserved them, especially considering the BBC's track record with preservation of old shows. What else do you have?
Wow. I didn't think there were that many episodes. How much space does all of you recordings take up, seeing as you have a load of other stuff? Is there a reason why you started recording?
Well, most people record stuff because they enjoy it and want to save it for later, so they can enjoy it again without having to wait for a specific opportunity.

I have a cupboard full of VHS tapes - takes up quite a bit of space! The majority of my Tweenies recordings are digital and live on my PC and some backups, but I do have some on VHS. I'm going to work on that list of programmes I have recorded on VHS.. All sorts of genres. From softcore porn to the Teletubbies!
I've got a box of tapes, though I don't think anything rare is in there. Are we missing any G1 Teletubbies episodes? There was that unreleased song, but the wiki doesn't currently have anything else.
Nice, you have Bob the Builder too. I used to love that show. I think I stopped watching because the environmental messages were far too obvious. Or I was just too old for it. The reboot doesn't look anywhere near as good as the original. Let us know if there's anything interesting on the tape.
No, but it's probably a lot easier to share the older episodes after they're digitised. I don't think sending the tapes via pigeon would be very efficient. I'm guessing that the original series won't be shown again any time soon because of the reboot. There doesn't seem to be anything major lost as I haven't read about it.
I'd be interested in knowing your process and if you need a lot of specific tech to do it.
You see, I also have some tapes of rare/unresurfaced media that I want to digitize, but I don't want to pay 30 bucks or more for each tape to do so.
Is it hard to do it on your own?
I use a DVD recorder (which are easy to pick up for under £30 GBP, about $40 USD these days) and a high-end Sharp VCR - I've found that Sharp is one of the best VCR makes. I connect the VCR to the DVD recorder, put a blank disc in, hit play on the VCR and hit record on the DVD recorder. I then rip the DVDs to my computer. It's also possible to buy USB capture devices, which can be easier but without as good quality as the DVD recorder method.
Thank you for the explanation! Now to see if my VHS/DVD hybrid reader can act as the kind of recorder you describe...
I didn't know about these. I just assumed that it wasn't shown in the US.
It had been broadcast in the US since 1999. And released on DVD/VHS since 2001. The Missing US dubs are: -Spud The Super-Wrench/Musketter -Naughty Spud
