Trying to find confirmation of existence/information on a lost unaired pilot for the late 90s Nickelodeon show "100 Deeds For Eddie McDowd" featuring Shia LaBeouf in what would have been his 1st or 2nd acting gig. He never appeared on the show (and the listed cast for the pilot is almost completely different).
The first aired episode of the show is watchable on Youtube here, but it seems there was a pilot w/ a different storyline and cast (including Shia LaBeouf) produced a year or so prior (98ish I assume). Has anyone ever heard of this?
The only place I found it mentioned is at the "Paley Center For Media" who apparently will let you setup viewings for media they have in their archives (unfortunately you cannot remove/copy anything). It'd be pretty cool to watch a "new/old/unseen" concept pilot for this show and see how it compares to what it became (granted this actually exists). If anyone has any information on it, or is close enough to Paley center in LA/NY where they could perhaps inquire/view it, I'd love to hear.
Here's the link on their site along w/ the summary and cast info: www.paleycenter.org/collection/item/?q=the&p=789&item=T:57006
Summary
The pilot for this children's series about Eddie McDowd, the bully in a small town, who is turned into a dog by an oddball character named Junior Drudge until he (Eddie) performs one hundred good deeds. This initial episode shows how Eddie the dog enters the lives of the Kirby family, who have just moved into town, and looks at his friendship with Matthew and Michelle Kirby, the only ones who can hear him talk. Eddie, Matthew, and Michelle make a deal ensuring that Eddie will help them adjust to life in a new town if they will help him accomplish his one hundred good deeds. However, Eddie loses control when he sees a cat, and he trashes the Kirby house in the process. Consequently, Mr. Kirby plans to get rid of Eddie, but he changes his mind when Eddie performs his first good deed. Commercials deleted.
