Filmmaker Matt Wolf is making a film about Marion Stokes who recorded TV 24/7 from 1979 to 2012 ("24/7 feed of the major networks local and national news but also non news programming too") and needs help logging some metadata into a database. Eventually the Internet Archive is going to digitize all the tapes and release them for free! If you want to help you can probably contact Matt at: mail@mattwolf.info. Even if logging metadata is something that sounds boring and completely uninteresting, I thought y'all might at least be excited about this pretty comprehensive archival project of TV over the last 30 years.

I'm in the middle of making a film about Marion Stokes who secretly recorded television 24 hours a day for 30 years. She was a political activist and librarian who wanted to create a comprehensive archive of television from 1979 until her death in 2012. The Internet Archive plans to digitize her collection and to make it available for free online. We're in the middle of an insane process of indexing and organizing her 40,000 VHS tapes. Over the next few weeks I'm looking for volunteers to help with logging the metadata off of her VHS spines into a database. The work can be done remotely. If you, your friend or your student might be interested in getting involved in our project please let me know. Looking forward to sharing this one with everybody in a year!
