I hope that the title of this thread will ring a bell and bring back some memories of a video that I saw advertised on late night TV in the late 1990s or early 2000s.
It was a commercial for what I presume was a comedy video, and included a sequence of a young guy suffering from a diarreah attack, and was going around, knocking on the doors or peoples' houses, asking if he could use their bathrooms because "I squirted when I farted."
He certainly got a lot of quizzical looks from the people he encountered, and as far as I know, no one invited him into their houses to use their bathrooms.
I should have written down the name of the company offering this video for sale, but sad to say I didn't do so.
I have in the nearly 20 years or so, since seeing that commercial, wondered about the video, not necessarily wanting to purchase a copy of it, but who produced it, and other details, and possibly some reviews of those who did buy it.
I asked about it on the TV Tropes webpage, which I joined, and I got nowhere.
Does anyone other than myself remember that commercial, and have possibly seen the video that it was advetising, and have any opinion about it?
Hope I can finally get some answers on this one after all these years.

One detail that I had forgotten, but just recently remembered, was that the guy with the diarrhea problem in the video did somewhat resemble the comedian Tom Green(e?) having a van dyke beard and mustache, if my memory is correct in that detail.
I din't write down the name of the video and the company selling it, because (at that time at least), I wasn't all that much interested in seeing it, and how it turned out, and if anyone did allow the guy to use the bathroom in their houses, and whatever other comedy skits might have been on the video. I just asssumed that with the Internet Search engines being like they are, that if I ever wanted to read a review of the video, and find out who to buy it from, all I would have to do is type into a search enging "I squirted when I farted," and I'd get all the details that I needed.
I would think that with so many people on this board remembering so many old, and lost videos, someone else would remember this one.

When I discussed "I Squirted When I Farted," on other message boards, some members questioned if it could have probably been "Life's Most Embarassing Moments," and I seem to remember checking out that TV show, but as far as i could determine, "Life's Most embarassing moments" wasn't sold thru TV commercials.
Or was it?
Do any of you other Wikis know much about Life's Most Embarassing moments and if the ole Tom Green Lookin thing who Squirted When He Farted might have been on that show and the ad I saw offering it for sale?

I have looked over utube videos of The Tom Green Show, and I now think what I saw was probably during that show, on an ad for one of the many compilations of scenes of Tom playing his ridiculous pranks on people.
Any Tom Green fans on the board who might be able to help me locate what I'm looking for?
In what timeframe do you mean by late 90's/early 2000s, though? I tried searching it on adforum (here: www.adforum.com/creative-work/search ) but I didn't find anything, and it only goes down to 1999. Do you mean late/90's/early 2000s as in 1999-2001 or more like 1997-2003?
Also, in what country do you live? It could potentially narrow down the amount of things it could be, since there's an insane amount of comedy shows and films. I don't know where MTV airs, but Wikipedia has a list of countries where Comedy Central airs, even though it doesn't state when they started broadcasting in said countries (or if they broadcasted in a country they don't broadcast anymore.)
Another possibility could be that it could have been a skit instead of a commercial, but I kind of doubt it...

Thanks for the post, borninbread.
I live in the USA, and have cable TV.
I think Tom's show ran on MTV from sometime in the mid to late 1990s through about 2001.
I did a search on him and his TV show, and got the exact month and year that it began and ended.
If the diarrhea prank was in an ad for a compilation, then I should check the content lists for the compilations.
I did find, on utube, a compilation titled The Best of Tom Green, and each skit had a title, so that is another clue to identifying. The diarrhea skit was not included in that compilation.
And, there were other compilations on utube. I would doubt that every single episode of The Tom Green Show is on utube.
I'm now going to check the link you posted.
If I can't find the skit in a compilation, then I'll go to the content listings of the individual shows, and hopefully find it.
In thinking that this skit had a Tom Green looking actor in it, I overlooked the obvious, that it was probably Tom Green himself in the skit, which I now think was the case.

OK, People, I have added a bit to the title of the thread to clarify what it is about to anyone who has not yet read it.
I've done some work, and Tom Green's show started in Canada in September of 1994, and in January, 1999 it moved to the USA on MTV. I have not determined if the shows produced in Canada would have been aired (or cabled) in the USA, but to begin my search, I had moved into a new residence on October 31, 1997, and it was definitely at that location that I saw the late night TV show about the guy who asked total strangers if he could use their bathroom.
I'm going to guess I saw it on MTV, between January, 1999, and March of 2000, when production was stopped because of Mr. Green's testicular cancer, which I do remember him having videotaped and later aired on late night (I Suppose M)TV.
After production stopped in March of 2000, the show continued in re-runs until June 23 of 2003, when The New Tom Green Show, with a late night TV talk show format.
It is possible I saw the diarrhea bathroom prank skit first run, or on a re-run or on a commercial for a compilation video.
I'll concentrate my search on first run shows from January 1999 through broadcast of the last episode produced in March of 2000.
I'll start with the IMDB listings.
That is my strategy and I hope it produces results.

Last night or early this morning, I did a very extensive net search on The Tom Green Show, on IMDB, and on other web pages and basically found that there were very few listings of the contents of the shows, and it seems that until I can find a list with complete content listings of each episode, there are a lot of Tom Green Show episodes and compilations on utube, and surfing thru all of them, probably at FF speed, might be the best way to find the bathroom emergency prank, but it's always possible that the episode with that prank might not be on utube.

I have a question. What will happen when you find it and (possibly) discover it is not as good as you remembered it being? Im always curious about the psychological effect this has on people
Post by billyaanderson on Sept 23, 2019 4:49:10 GMT
Good question, captiveofchrist. It's kind of hard to judge the work of Tom Green since most critics consider it "bad" to begin with.
So, what is the goodest of the bad stuff that Tom Green did?
Some people got very angry at him, and I am surprised that playing the pranks he played on people someone didn't hit him and cause a serious injury.
I don't think his bathroom emergency prank was all that bad, or good, for the type of work he did.
I think it will probably be just as I remembered it, typical of his outrageous pranks.
I have not seen Freddy Got Fingered, just thinking it was about somebody named Freddy going to a doctor for a prostate or hemorrhoid exam.
When I read the summary of the sights shown in that film, I couldn't believe that such sights would be shown in a mainstream film.
But, reading the audience reaction on IMDB, some people consider Freddy Got Fingered the Best film ever, while others consider it the Worst Film Ever.
Typical of most films, like the book on 2001: A Space Odyssey says: The Critics Loved It. The Critics Hated It.
As far as the "may I please use your bathroom?" prank goes, I don't think I'd get all excited over seeing it again after all these years. I'd just probably be indifferent, and say it was OK for the type of thing that Tom Green did.
To me, the search for that video is just the challenge of locating it. Also, an exercise in Memory and how to recover it.

Had an apparently real bathroom emergency experience about 9 days ago. Repair technician came by my Dungeon to check on the heating/cooling system, grabbed his somach and asked if he could use my bathroom, which I allowed him to do before he really had a worse emergency like the one Tom Green was only pretending to have had.
I suppose if I wanted to go thru all the Tom Green shows posted to u-tube, I might possibly find it, but it would take a lot of time that I just don't want to invest in at the present.

Seven hundred and seven views of this thread and I'm surprised that no Tom Green fan has posted that they remember seeing that episode, or ad for an episode compilation!
On the u-tube thread, Tom had an avatar of himself inviting Peoples' questions, but I suppose I'd have to sign up and get a user name and password, to do so, and that is something I am so sick and tired of, that I just don't want to take the time to do it now.

Maybe eventually I will do so.
Where? What YouTube thread? I could try to ask him.

Thanks for the post, borninbread. I'll search u-tube and find the URL of that place where he invited viewer questions. Then I'll sign up to be able to post to u-tube, and if you also post there, (don't know if you are signed up to post or not), and other people start to ask about it, he might reply and hopefully it is somewhere there on u-tube and we can watch it for free, or purchase a DVD if that were neceessary.
