Greetings. I've been pretty interested in lost media for a while, it always intrigued me when projects were made but then lost and found. I've forgotten a few pieces of cartoons from childhood myself, and with the help of the internet now remember these scenarios. However, there's been one thing that's always been in the back of my mind since i first saw it as a kid and i just couldn't...figure out what it was. This is the main reason why I joined this forum, and hopefully i can get some answers.
Back when i was around 5 or 6 years old, which would be in the time frame of 2008-2009, there would be times where i had to be in bed with my sister in order for her to soundly go to sleep, as she was a young toddler at the time and was afraid of the dark and all that stuff. She would usually have something on her TV playing, usually something girly like the Barbie movies or Strawberry Shortcake or even old Hello Kitty cartoons. There would also be more gender neutral stuff like Charlie and Lola. But I have a vague memory of this one cartoon, one that honestly kinda creeped me out when i saw it.
The two unambiguous things in my memory are that there was an anthropomorphic rabbit and that it had very crude 3D animation. The computer animation was so simple that it looked like it barely qualified as a cartoon. The rabbit character model looked like it was random shapes slapped together in Blender, and was just made up of simple spheres and ovals for the body and limbs, and had no texture and detail to the shapes other than shading. I remember it having pale cyan circles for eyes and I'm not exactly sure what its nose looked like, if it even had one, but I do know that it didn't have a mouth. I think it also wore a dark blue shirt and red pants. It might've had two golden circles on the shirt that were supposed to be buttons, but don't quote me on that. When it hopped, the animation was slow and the character seemed to float as if gravity was reduced. It only moved its legs/feet as it hopped, and otherwise the limbs and body only moved when it needed to perform a direct action. The main setting was just a solid green ground and a solid blue sky. I do remember there being a few trees here and there. I think there were other animal characters as well, but i don't remember what they looked like, and as for the plot, it barely had one. I remember that it would keep cutting and switching between scenes involving the animals. But in my vague memories I remember one of the scenes that might have actually had a story was that they went to a zoo or something like that? I kinda remember there being a big wall with a large fancy gate, kinda like an entrance to a cemetery or a luxury property. However I don't think i actually saw them inside the zoo, i only remember that it was implied that they went to one. And speaking of implications, that's all there was to go off of when trying to understand what was going on. The characters did not speak at all. They just moved around while an upbeat jingle plays. There was this one scene in particular where the rabbit would face the camera and hop towards it..it felt really uncanny and honestly i was quite terrified and wondered what the heck was going on.
I asked my sister about it, and at first she couldn't remember anything like it. We then continued the conversation about shows that she watched as a kid but can't remember, and we did end up figuring out a couple shows lost to her memory. As it went back to the show i just described, some details like the zoo plot and the other animals did make her recall seeing it. However, neither of us remember what the show is actually called, but there is a clue. When the show started, I remember it would play the jingle and some voice would exclaim the name of the show. It was something like..."Oopla!" or "Pooka!", and whatever is similar to that. As far as i know, the show has nothing to do with the mythological creature called the pooka/puca, the only similarity being that the characters are both rabbit-like. My sister did say that it was probably a cartoon for babies, and that it helped them recognize how shapes create more complicated shapes or something like that, but in general we still don't know what the deal was with the show.
So far the most similar thing I could find is the show Miffy and Friends, but my gut tells me it's not the show I've been looking for. It might be a knockoff of Miffy, but I don't really know. From what I could tell it's very obscure and I don't even know how we watched it on the TV. My sister's TV did not have cable so it was probably a DVD, but now it's been either sold off or just thrown in the trash as I can't find it anywhere.
So I guess my question is, did any of you guys ever had experiences with this cartoon? Any help would be much appreciated, I've been wondering what this was for years.
