So.. finally came across something I wanted to find.
VH1 back in the mid-late 2000s would air these top 100 countdowns.
Examples:
"Top 100 Hard Rock songs" "Top 100 songs of the 1990s" "Top 100 songs of the 2000s"
I found ONE, but it was an older version from around 1999 that was shocking music moments. Can't find the newer version.
I don't know if this is considered lost. There's proof of it existing with screenshots, and lists of what songs are named, but VH1 hasn't aired them in years, and I can't find ANY clips of them online.

I think I remember these. Was one of them about mysteries in music, referring to things like the Cobain suicide? Do you remember one where the host was walking around in a grave yard, wearing a trench coat like some episode of Unsolved Mysteries? I also remember one which was a countdown of videos they said would never be aired again, and after each one was aired the tape was destroyed. I believe I still have that one on VHS, because I heard they were never allegedly going to air these videos again so, being obsessive compulsive, I couldn't help but record it. I'd have to find the tape though, which could take forever cause I have thousands of them.
I distinctly recall this kind of stuff, and I had no idea they were considered lost.

I feel like I somewhat remember that.. them saying it would never air again sounds familiar. Maybe it was just that one tho, I remember watching the Hard Rock one a few times over. Haven't seen either of them since at least 2011 tho.

I'm pulling my memories back now but one I distinctly recall on VH1 was a special about mysteries and bizarre occurrences in the music industry, things like the Tupac/Biggie conspiracies and such. The whole thing was shot in weird filters and had this woman wearing a trench coat and walking in a GRAVE YARD and like a forest, and she would 'disappear' or something with bad special effects.
They discussed things like I believe a rumor that Curt Cobain was somehow at a concert after he killed himself, and I believe mention was made of a band whose identities were never known who preformed at some big venue then disappeared, the band-equivalent of Ready N' Steady basically. Hell maybe that was on the list! I think they went into various strange deaths or suicides too.
I know this sounds like the Crackmaster of VH1 but I would bet my life on it being real. If not VH1, MTV then. One or the other, but I have a feeling it was the former for some reason. It was basically a whole special about unsolved murders and bizarre ghostly concerts. Wish I could find it now.
I remember those! I used to watch them all the time. They'd also occasionally air on MTV. Pete Wentz hosts the Top 100 of the 2000s. I'm still bent on MCR not being on the list lmao
