I am wondering if anyone here may know the identity of a very strange stop-motion or claymation cartoon that I have very faded memories of. I think that I have had memories of it for at least ten years now, and I want to ask the internet about the animation before I lose my memories of it completely.
The place where I saw it was the Armageddon Expo (New Zealand's version of Comicon) between 2006 and 2009. I think that I first attended the event in 2006, but I can't be certain of that now. Recently, however, one of my younger relatives found a pamphlet for 2007's Armageddon Expo in my house, which I think confirms that I started attending the event at least as early as that year.
I saw the animation on a TV screen that was next to a stall. I have absolutely no recollection of what the stall was for. As for the short itself, I will now try to explain how I remember it, as carefully as possible:
1) The setting was somewhere outside, during the day. There were three figures present; a short (?) man with white skin wearing a white robe, a normal-sized man wearing a brown robe, and a woman. I can't remember anything about the woman other than the fact that she was there, and I can't remember what any of the characters' faces looked like.
2) The three characters had apparently come to a resolution of some sort, but I don't remember hearing any talking.
3) (This is where the cartoon becomes extremely unusual and will be very difficult to explain) Several small creatures suddenly emerged from the ground around the feet of the normal-sized man and woman. I think that the creatures were only composed of heads and small feet in shoes (think the goombas in Super Mario World), and that their heads were pale pink-coloured with short black hair and pointy ears, and no noses, but these details are likely imagined by me.
4) When these creatures appeared, ominous, fast-paced drum music started playing in the background.
5) The creatures started swirling around the brown-robed man and woman, in a tornado motion, and the man and woman are apparently immobilised as this 'tornado' moves them back and forth across the screen.
6) As this started happening, the white-robed man hung his head, covered his face with his hand, and started shaking his head, which he did until the cartoon ended.
7) As the brown-robed man and woman continue to be trapped in the moving 'tornado', the man is turned upside-down, and apparently fuses with the woman. Together, they take the form of a giant, eyeless snake with a big gaping mouth, made out of the brown robe, which continues to move back and forth across the screen.
8) The 'snake' goes directly towards the fourth wall and its gaping black mouth engulfs the screen, to shocking effect. This is where the cartoon ends.
This may have just been an animation project made by a student, in which case it would probably be impossible to find now, but I still think that this was worth posting.
I am not good at drawing, but I can try to draw what I remember of the cartoon if anyone else is interested in what it was and has connections to people who may know what it was.
