I literally think it's because they see them as "just another episode".
What have they released that was more controversial? There has been some weird stuff, but nothing more controversial than these two episodes.
I might have read that last part wrong. I thought I read something about smoking pipes and potential creeps.
No, you didn't read that wrong. It's just a matter of opinion if those instances would be controversial since it doesn't look like anyone batted an eye when it happened. My guess why they might not release Snuffy's Parents is that the episode never made it past the test screenings, so it might not be considered an "official episode" to them, rather just some cut content.
Unless the reason they won't release it is due to some rights issues then it's a stupid move on their part to not include it on a dvd or make it available to buy online. It's very rare that a company has a specific episode that people are really interested in seeing at this level, and they very clearly have it. If they are worried about scaring kids no kid is going to watch a Sesame Street episode from the 70s, it's pretty much a adults only release. It's going to be similar to Cracks where it's going to either leak or someone will find it and then they will make no money off it due to stubbornness. Kinda funny how these companies like to throw away free money, especially one that was in financial trouble recently.

Since it was Sesame Street who did the episode (as opposed to Cracks, which was likely from an outside source), I don't think it'd be a rights issue. Maybe using Margaret Hamilton's likeness, but since she did the episode herself during her lifetime, I'm not sure what the legality of it would be. I also wouldn't say that no kids would watch it, considering I myself pretty much exclusively watched Sesame Street from before I was even born, but those who watch it would probably be mostly adults. As for "throwing away money", it's difficult to say, since Sesame Workshop is a non-profit, and it could be released in a way that wouldn't necessarily make money

There was a thread posted to Muppet Central in 2008 of someone claiming to have seen the divorce episode; take it with a grain of salt, as it could've been a false memory.

virtuaboi , it doesn't help that many people confuse the unrelated 1994 direct-to-video film A New Baby in My Housewith the unaired 1992 episode "Snuffy's Parents Get a Divorce" mainly because it has a similar set and characters like the only screencap of the episode available shown in the 2009 book Sesame Street: A Celebration - 40 Years of Life on the Street. Despite using similar sets and characters like the unaired episode, they have nothing in common and it has a different storyline of Snuffy being upset that his new baby sister named Alice breaking his favorite toy and his mother tries to calm him down with the story of "Prince Firstly's Little Surprise" as it mirrors Snuffy's situation in that he tries to get along with his baby sister, but he doesn't like the attention she recieves.
So yeah, the footage shown in Blameitonjorge's video "9 Episodes of Kids Shows That Dealt With Serious Issues" isn't the real episode; it's just edited clips of that film featuring the scenes involving Snuffy to make it match the subject he is talking about since no footage of the unaired episode have ever been leaked.

Despite the frustrations of normal day life we go through, the best thing to do about it is still being happy for our friends and family.

I mean, it's not impossible. We do know that at least some kids saw the episode
Hello everyone! Longtime lurker, first time commenter here. With the recent news that all the episodes are getting archived, hopefully this means this episode will show up soon. My only concern is that they’ll only be available at on-site locations, and would still be hard to see
Someone's gonna sneak a phone and record at least a segment of it.
So I heard in another article that it's eventually gonna be every single episode that's archived; the big question is if we will still consider it lost if it's available there. I mean, Cracks had a similar situation with Jon Armond where he was allowed to show it to people in person but it wasn't technically found, though this is more official and public.
Muppet Wiki, a user named "Radionate" (don't target Oscarfan -- he just cropped the picture)... he is already being interrogated by our men.
Edit: And he probably won't say anything, lol. My guess is this is definitely one of the episodes donated and will be available to view in-person soon.
The quality of that image is just beautiful. Much better than the artificially coloured one we’ve had for a while. Hopefully we will see more soon. I’m praying it’s gonna be one of the archived episodes.
