Ok, so when I was a kid before I got my first iPod, I had this cheap off brand MP3 player. I wouldn’t exactly be so adamant about finding it if it weren’t for the fact that it had a song built into it. The song was called “Falling Asleep” and it was a sort of generic, alternative rock song. I have searched and searched but I can’t find anything but MP3 players with sleep function. It probably doesn’t help that I can’t remember the name of the player or the lyrics to the song. If it helps, the era can be narrowed down to 2004-2006-ish.
Edit: if this provides any extra help, I kinda remember the system having a green and white type color scheme

Doing an initial rough search based on the information available, my first guess is the Creative Zen V Plus:
It looks very similar to an iPod of the time, was put on a "best of" list of the era (meaning if could have very well sold for cheaper alongside the iPod) , and was feature packed. It's also known that it came with pre-installed content, as evidenced by this video: dai.ly/x2yzrx4.
Now, another guess is the Sansa MP3 players. They have a known history of pre-installing songs on their MP3's. Here's an early example: forums.sandisk.com/t5/Sansa-e200-series/pre-loaded-sample-playlist-on-e250/td-p/26527. While none of these songs are named "Falling Asleep", Each type of Sansa MP3's have different pre-loaded songs. I didn't see any that resembled the green/white color scheme you remembered, but I'll admit I haven't looked extensive enough to be conclusive on anything.
Sorry for disappearing for so long. Life got pretty crazy and I forgot about this for a while but I just remembered I posted this while binging some blameitonjorge
The mp3 I had didn’t look anything like an iPod, it was a kinda egg-ish design, with simple play, pause, fast forward buttons kinda akin to a portable CD player. The screen was just a simple lcd kinda like the ones on the 20 questions games.
As for the lyrics to the song, I only vaguely remember a few of them, I think some of them want like this
“I’m falling asleep Waiting for someone To know the answers to”
And I forget the rest after that but I also remember the lyric-
“Now I know how It feels to be-“
And I can’t remember most others at this point
Thanks everyone!
Edit: I very specifically remember having the soundtrack to The Cheetah Girls 2 on it, which came out in 2006, so if a date helps, it should be from around that time
