I might remember the show because of the Boohbahs. I was a big fan of that show, though I cringe at it now.
I also noticed on a YouTube channel that Judy and David's Boombox also came after Barney. Think there might be a chance of finding the show in that time frame?
I don't know if there's a chance. I'll look. Which year was that in?
Alright, so... I was digging REALLY DEEP into this, and found a YouTube video for a show by the name of Pirates. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBzQmU-sFA0
If I recall correctly, then this intro is VERY similar to My Special Book's when it zooms in on the book. On top of that, it aired in the same time frame as My Special Book, this specific episode seeming to date from 1999. The show was made in Nova Scotia, the province in which Jennifer Racicot, the puppeteer for My Special Book, is from.
Then, to top it all off, it was also seemingly produced and broadcasted by YTV and Treehouse.
Pirates! and My Special Book could possibly be correlated. If such is the case, a third producing company was involved by the name of "Salter Street Films" as stated in the credits.
Of course, I could just be going crazy from the hours of searching I've done today...
I'll email Michael about this and see what he has to say.

I think that "My Special Book" and "Pet Squad" are from the same time and channel and prodco. Jenni is actually from Ontario. The guy she married is from Nova Scotia. I know someone tried to contact Jenni, but we should maybe try contacting Andrew Grantham, her husband, who used to run the Talking Animals YouTube channel. He has a facebook. I don't know if it's the best idea since they live together, so I haven't done it. Whatever you guys think.

One thing to note about this show I found out from looking at the CRTC logs was that it aired on both YTV and Treehouse from 2000 to 2002. After YTV Jr. shut down in 2002, I think it was just on Treehouse at the time. Could be wrong. It was absent though from Fall 2002 to Spring 2004. Then it came back from Spring 2004 to Fall 2006. Maybe from Fall 2002 to Spring 2004 it only aired on YTV? I don't know. based on the treehouse info, that's what I found.
Here's a recap.
2000 to Fall 2002 (Airing on Treehouse) Fall 2002 to Spring 2004 (Taken off of Treehouse) Spring 2004 to Fall 2006 (Airing on Treehouse again) Fall 2006 to present (Permanently taken off Treehouse).

Seems odd for it to drop off Corus for two years. I'd check YTV's logs. It could also be entirely possible they were using that break time to produce more episodes. They did make 90 episodes.

That's exactly what I'll do. 90 episodes is a lot. I do kind of remember seeing the Treehouse logo at the end of some episodes, but that could just be my imagination.

Andrew's contact info seems to be more MUCH more open then Jennifer's. I can see his posts and I'm even able to comment on them if I wanted to. This seems to be a step in the right direction as a more open profile would likely mean a more open inbox.

In the past, I tried to message someone about buying something from a group on Facebook. I wasn't his facebook friend though (and didn't know him), so he didn't know I messaged him. The message request thing is very hidden for people you aren't facebook friends with.

The thing about Andrew though is that his comments section for posts is open. I'll try adding him as a friend if he doesn't respond within the next two days, and if nothing happens after that, I'll try to get his attention through commenting on his post...
So long as we only have one person messaging him, we're fine. We might be able to get something within the week if things go well.
