Apparently, Jerry Seinfield came up with the idea for Bee Movie by pondering the possible perspectives that bees have when his wife was interested in beekeeping.
This information about to be explained might (emphasis on might) change the historical record, Bee Movie was not the first bee movie.
A ton of this information already existed when I was searching, but i'm pretty sure I'm the first person to heavily acknowledge it.
A little over two weeks ago, I was reading the Wikipedia article about Bee Movie (yes I know the nature of wikipedian misinformation), and apparently there was a lawsuit about a swedish movie also about bees named Beebylon accusing Spielberg of theft.
I was intrigued about this, and researched Beebylon.
There was barely a thing on the world wide web about it, except two videos both published 16 years ago, and somebody's job portfolio about the film.
Beebylon Website My browser claims the connection is not secure, so caution on that
First footage, uploaded by ishtar237 on May 21, 2007.
Yes, we are staring right at the names of those who worked on it at the (near) end of the video, but it's the classic camera-glare-pointed-at-a-television.
I'm pretty sure that was on some sort of physical media, so all is not lost.
Second footage, uploaded by beesman10 on May 24, 2007, three days later.
As you can tell, there are two known logos, with the second one looking more complete.
Nine years ago, somebody named Bjorn Ringholm posted a comment on the first video:
Two days ago, I had the guts to ask where he got this information. He responded with:
I questioned if he still has anything from Beebylon, and he said that he has something somewhere, but may ask his colleagues too.
Later that same day, he uploaded some more footage.
So, overall the same, but at least more of this epic soundtrack without narration exists.
If one were to publish one of those lost-or-found pages on the wiki section of the site about Beebylon, i'd classify this as Partially Lost.
Bjorn said there's a pilot to all of this, but i'm still debating on what he meant by that, as it could've just been the trailers shown with the rest being verbally said in the pitch meeting.
Perhaps this is all of it for now, but I don't think i'm gonna annoy Bjorn too much.

LOL, what people dream up...
Some facts:
Long before Seinfeld, who supposedly came up with the idea behind the 'Bee Movie" teamed up with Drewmworks[sic] the idea for Beebylon was originally created by a Swedish producer who (with limited knowledge of 3D animation at that time) were thinking about people in costumes (think Teletubbies...).
This producer then approached a friend and director who had been working with 3D during the 90's. It was this director that proposed that it should be done in 3D. The pilot were created by students from Graphic Studio in Nacka, Sweden.
At this point the idea was to make a series for television where the bees study the strange behaviours of humans. Turbning[sic] the Swedish tv-series 'Ett med naturen' the other way around.
Then Dreamworks Europe saw the pilot. The producers and the director went to show it to the directors at Dreamworks HQ but at arrival they were not allowed to meet anyone higher than middle management...
The project finally died when the involved could not agree on the financials...

I was part of the team that created this teaser. We were invited to pitch the idea to Dreamworks. When our producer went there none of the managing director wanted to meet with our guys, long after that the 'BeeMovie' was announced. Not exactly the same idea but still bees interacting with humans...
